Anglesey Lotus trackday (coastal) 27th sep £175

WES ROCKS

By the end of the day I think I was making Sean’s line through Rocket work, looks like you were too Wes, so glad I followed Peskys advice and spent my money on instruction as it really adds to enjoyment!

Not just me who says that, Mikey - plenty of tossers on here often suggest the same.

Good job I didn’t upload my outake from the video of my first attempt at that new line… that run off area looked just like track to me  The kerb was a bit bumpy rejoining the track.

I reckon that over the day I ended up taking at least a second off my lap time, possibly two, by trying different lines. The advice of ‘think differently’ was enough help on it’s own.

Come on Wes we need a laugh! upload the last corner of the first lap (did we do sighting laps and attend the warning at the drivers briefing!!!)

And thanks for lending me the keys! Much improved car on last time which allowed me to thrash the B****** off it around the corners as well as up the straight! I’m just glad its got a good rev limiter and I brought my own fuel!

How about a Lotus convoy to watch some real motorsport to watch Wes and I at Rockingham at a 2 day rally later in the year? You know its a good idea Wes.

Rockingham in December? Cold, wet, dark night stages… you’re not selling it to me.

Everyones exige will be stabled up with a New Zealand rug on by then. Including mine.

And there was me thinking an Exige was a drivers car, not a show car!

I hope the lads in the 211 thaw out soon after the drive home.
would you beleive the passenger in the 2-eleven slept all the way home :astonished:
Is that the same guy who was sleeping in the paddock on the trailor? Not sure how he managed it
He slept all the way there as well. I’ve only just thawed out

Some piccies on my ‘new’ heavy mota!

Pursued by a bloody fast ‘lightweight S1’!

is that Graham coming up to pass you Pete in his super light S1

Euphemism!!! It was him who was squealing, not your tyres, Ozzie Tosser!

Eherrrm…you mean like a kiwi sheep!

There’s no sign of Harvey in the pic, he must have already got past!  Only kidding pete!

Would love a copy mate :sunglasses:

This is me! Check out the hand… Nursing it round

Eventually found some time to edit and upload a couple pieces of footage from last Monday’s Anglesey’s track day.

1st link is of Pete, Graham and I having a bit of a play, followed (after a short gap), its me trying to keep up with Graham. Love the bit at about 6 minutes where we are patiently waiting behind the Clio with VHPDs chomping at the bit.

We then go past Pete who looks like he is on a cool down lap not for long, this turns back into another ‘play’. Its then up to me to lead with the last of the late brakers, Pete pushing me all the way.

Anglesey Part 1

The second piece of footage was taken in the afternoon with me on what looks like an empty track. I had gained a little more confidence by this time and was a tad faster through the corners, taking a less cautious / tight line and a being more purposeful on the brakes, (still plenty of room for driver improvement);

Anglesey Part 2

What was really interesting was how three cars with three different drivers were so evenly matched;

Pete with his self proclaimed heavyweight 218hp 935kg SC S2 complete with 70ltr touring tank
Graham with his 200 and a bit hp S1 with standard close ration Exige box
Mine with 195hp and ultra close ratio box

I would say that Grahams driving was smooth, precise and fast. Petes was driving the pants off his S2 to be pushing the pair of us. I was relying on the ultra close ratio box to make up time lost on the bends, when accelerating out of the corners

All in all I had a great day on track and enjoyed the company / banter off it thanks again to all involved.

Harvey.

Great vids Harvey! I also have some good footage but need your expertise to get them loaded… they still go ‘frame by frame’!

Yes, interesting about the comparisons between the cars/drivers. Yes indeed I was driving the nuts off mine and was relying on catching you up into the braking areas, esp Rocket! I am generally missing the apex by 2 feet or so… not good nor intended! but the car was running wide and I could just not get it to turn in! VERY frustrating!

Power to weight ratio’s are interesting:-

S1 Exige. 750 KG with 200 BHP = 266 BHP/Tonne

S2 Exige S. 935 KG with 218 BHP = 233 BHP/Tonne

S1 Exige Honda. 750 KG with 280 BHP = 373 BHP/Tonne

So, us S2 Boyz need more power and less weight! The CN upgrade to 260 BHP would give is a more even 278 BHP/Tonne! So Boothy and JFK should blast past no worries! :sunglasses:

Looking fwd to Donny!

Pete no worries regarding having a look at your footage, let me know when you are about - must be an age thing

As for the footage, it just make me realise that a 195hp VHPD is more than enough for me at this point in time - any more and I would be getting myself in to a heap of trouble. The only upgrade I need are bigger kahooners and instruction.

Role on Donny

I dont think you would get yourself into ‘a heap of trouble’!.. other than perhaps with Karen if she found out where all the were going!!!

Anyway I also think its about using what you have got to it’s full potential!

When is Donny?
What are the noise police like there ?
