Whatever way you play it, someone will be pi$$ed off when demand outstrips supply - that’s life. There are many regular annual attendees who rarely/don’t even post here, but they are long standing & valued members of the Exige community.
At the end of the day, it’s entirely down to the attendees why this event is so successful. It only became “private” when we could demonstrate to Bookatrack that we could fill it. “The Regulars” made this possible in the early days, & they’ve now been coming to Anglesey for each of the last 4 or 5 years. With this in mind, I feel it only fair that these people have priority booking for the first month.
Don’t forget that there is a good handful of folk who always come to Anglesey, who don’t go out on track, but enjoy socialising & meeting up with old friends from all over the UK.
Once again, apologies to the “new un’s”, but hope you understand.
I can only go off previous years but i have never booked the day in advance, one year i even just rocked up and paid jonny on the day.
If there are 70 cars allowed there will be more than enough spaces as every year the last few always get filled with randoms either because its wasnt filled with our lot or because of the enevitable drop outs. I personally dont see an issue with letting regular posters here sign up now tbh, regardless of wether they have been on an anglsey day before with us or not (bomber was on our hethel day last month, you werent pesky, next day i organise should i not let you sign up?) id rather go having known quanties there than getting to the day and having unknowns.
With respect, you’re jumping the gun - Regulars only have priority until the end of December, it will then be opened up to other Exigers. I think loyalty & past support counts for something, others may not, but tough that’s the way it is. The event should be fully booked by us lot, provided there are minimal last minute drop outs.
If the day is not fully booked by a yet to be set deadline date by Bookatrack, then Jonny will put it on general public release. Turning up on the day would then be a big gamble…If folk want to take a gamble fair enough, but if too many do that, the event as we know it will be dead.
If people don’t want to guarantee an exclusive day, don’t book it, but if they do…
If in future you organise a day Gav, & it is fully booked by your previous guests, then I wouldn’t expect special treatment (I may well be pi$$ed off, but I would understand the reason)
PS As I said in an earlier post, there are many event regulars (around 20) who rarely/never post on exiges.com.
I hope you agree that it’s only fair that the likes of for instance Martin Edwards, Tony Stansfield, the 10 or so lads (plus their mates) from Scotland, & the lads from Nyloc, who ARE all Regulars get first dibs? How many of these post on Exiges.com?
Sorry - but this is a little disingenuous. A couple of years ago you did indeed pay us cash on the day, but Pesky will confirm that this place had been booked in advance by him - underwritten by Pesky’s own credit card. Pesky is also aware that as a result of a no show (this year or last, I forget which), we no longer allow payment to be made on the day. All bookings must be made in advance via the website. After all, why should everyone else have to pay months in advance to give someone else the ability to pay on the day?
The only exception to this would be if we get a last-minute cancellation and have a place available on the day. The only reason we take bookings on the day is so we can issue credit notes to the poor sods who have missed out - as several of the regulars on here will know. If we feel this last minute availability is being abused or unappreciated then we will cease to make these places available but the only people who will miss out are the clients - BaT have got the money in the bank either way and are under no legal obligation to issue credit notes less than 7 days prior.
Then dont post it up on exiges.com as an exclusive track day, email everyone who has done it before giving them til and of December to sign up then post it up on here to fill the places aftewards. All you’ll serve to do is alienate members who simply won’t even bother signing up after we’ve been trying hard to get the site a bit more active.
My first post was basically stating that you never fill all the places regardless of how you go about it. Even if 100 people signed up now I can almost guarantee well only have 70 by the time 4 months have past.
15 years in this industry and about 1500 track days under my belt tells me you are wrong and I’d be willing to have a substantial wager on that, too. 30 x £240 = £7200 should cover it
Now come on Jonny, you know as well as I do your never going to get 70 people from here (and the friends off) signing up for the day, let alone 100. I’m just stating a point.
Every year a few weeks before the event its get opened up to anyone to fill the spaces. Prove me wrong with previous attendee lists…
Like I said, Exiges.com is an exclusive enough place as it is, to turn around and say you can come but you cant just yet is wrong and it should have been done behind the scenes if it was to be like that.
How do you know what I have been doing behind the scenes? Quite simply, you don’t! I’d privately emailed/phoned a load of people as well as posting here, but I just haven’t got the time (or indeed all the necessary email addresses) to mail everyone. Many attendees have young families & they tend to appreciate knowing as soon as possible, if the event is on as they have other more important commitments to consider.
No one is being excluded, there just happens to be an orderly queue which people have to join - there is a good chance that all those that want to attend will be able to do so.
The process is in place and I can see all points of view. I think all needs will be fulfilled in time and anyone who is serious about coming will get on as long as they stay tuned.
Perhaps a face-to-face discussion in Bangor’s ‘best’ curry house about how to organise such a popular event going forward as we do need to balance past and future to keep this place ‘healthy’. It would be a shame not to get some V6’s on it for example
Let’s focus on on the positive that this is a nice problem to have and a reflection of the great membership. Not many car collectives can put these events on and have supply/demand challenge.
Amen to that. I can’t think of (m)any other clubs that can fill events exclusively. Even the Lotus Seven Club have had to resort to taking exclusive sessions on other peoples track days as the demand just isn’t there any more.
Lotus-on-Track obviously do OK, but they’re far from “exclusive” these days.
Thats there is the problem guys, I dont believe there to be a supply and demand issue for the day. If anything presenting it like this will only be counter productive towards getting the numbers (sorry the right people) together for the day as those that cant sign up now for it, may take the view of bollocks to it and and also to posting on the forum (we are back to this secret handshake again).
Out of principle I wont be signing up for it til the deadline has past even though I have been before, its not a fair way of doing it.
