Just wanted to see if there were any new news/opinions on the A048s?? I am thinking about getting a set of these for the new season. I am wondering if these stickier tires will overpower the stock dampers/springs? I want to go to slicks, but I don’t really want to spend the money for the Dynamics suspension at this time.FYI - Car is used only on the track (I’m across the pond).Any thoughts would be appreciated.ThanksBrad[This message has been edited by meat (edited 14 February 2003).]
I’d be interested to find out about these too, just about to fit new tyres , 3500 miles out of a set of rears, thats motorbike territory, I now all you purists will wince but I’d scrubbed my fronts so badly that I turned them round & swopped them to oppisite sides of the car for a track day at Brands GP at the end of last summer … It worked ok ! no significant loss of grip, just tram lined a bit more than usual. should change my name to tight arse !
GuysGo for the 48s - thry’re cheaper than the 39s too [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
…more grip and better wear too, I understand.
Fitted 48’s today 575inc VAT @nick whales in Birmingham i’ll let you know how it goes.
That reminds me anybody want to buy a pair A039s 195x50x16 (fronts) and a pair of Michelin sport rears 225x45x17 both with very little wear .Any sensible offer considered.Cheers Steve[This message has been edited by Stevef (edited 16 February 2003).]
hmmmmm…575 quid…is that the normal price for 'em?will fit some as well when I’m coming over…later,Bruno
RobWhat are they like in the damp/wet - compared to the 39s?
SimonTo be honest, I find them very similar in the wet. In other words, smooth right foot application on either the throttle or brakes is the order of the day. Grip in the dry is noticeably better though. I have also fitted the uprated rear toe-links - just to be extra cautious.Hope this helps [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
575 is what I paid for my tyres fitted ,However I did also get a quote for 400 for the tyres + VAt plus carriage and obviously then I have to get them fitted (about 60).So my calculations were that at the end of the day I would save about 20 quid on mail order, and if my tyre fitter botched the fitting I would have been a dam site worse of.
cheers, StevenRob, good thinking, will do the same [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]later,Bruno
I am about to order rear 48’s, at 146.88 inc vat, if I order 6 or more. Does anyone else require some? (Supplied only)
oi Russ, is that for two of 'em or per piece? what do you think, would Roger fit them for us?
Russ if thats for a pair I should rip the sellers arms out the sockets. But as posted my previous best price was 110 rears 90 fronts(400 total) both plus vat and carriage. That was South West Lotus.Cheerssteve
hmmm…poor sockets… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
That was each - depending on cost of carriage, looks like you have the cheapest then Steve. any ideas for total supplied to the doorstep?CheersRuss
Russ about 510ish including delivery and vat.Thats why I went NW, with the 50 -60 quid to fit theres no real saving.Oh and by the way that was delivery to the Midlands so obviously that will vary.Cheerssteve
Oh! and by the way 600 give or take a few quid from Kings @ Warwick, and they dont fit them for that!
Fitting is 7 per wheel at my local tyre dealer, less for cash [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]Phil
Hey - is 95.00 +VAT (no fitting) any good for A039’s - rears?Just bought two at the weekend at Kings’ Lotus Warwick. No point calling as these were the last two left, and they are closing end of Feb - Big sign on door states in clear terms!
