Ok - I’m going to cause trouble with this one
Have now used both types of tyres on the same circuit in similar conditions and definitely prefer the 48’s
Pro’s - Better turn in and steering feel, apparent better temp consistency & as I forgot weight - nearly 4kg’s lighter
Con’s - slightly worse tyre wear
I’ll wear the 888’s out but after that it’s back on the 48’s for me
thanks for sharing your experience.
AFAIK the A048’s are also a fair bit lighter than the Toyos.
Could tell bugger all difference between them apart from the R888’s lasted 5k miles longer and were 300 quid cheaper at the time. Now they are virtually the same price.

Steady now not wet the bed for a while
I guess I do want the car to be as good as it can be (costs withstanding) and feel with my car setup etc the 48’s are the better pure track tyre
I’m sure that as an all round tyre the 888’s are better but for the ultimate TD non slick tyre the 48’s edge it
I’ll be driving to Spa on road/888’s and switching to 48’s

LTS or M?
LTS - never tried the M’s. I gather the M’s don’t have the stiffer sidewall ?

M’s are what the Trophy guys use and in my experience wear much faster then the LTS
Another vote for LTS48’s.
Tried the 888’s but don’t give me the same confidence the 48’s do.
You need to keep the pressures spot on

The Ms last even less time but seem sticker and are cheaper.
I believe it’s what the trophy guys use.
I’ve been using Ms as they are cheaper but it’s probably a false economy given their wear rate
Guys, can you direct me to a good A048 reseller. Camskill is out of stock AFAIK.

Yeah if you like LTS’s you will bloody love M’s
Much better in every way and i would say they have stiffer sidewalls.
I love the set of M’s I had when I could not get LTS, however they didn’t last very long at all
slight thread hi-jack.
when i see used a048 for sale with say 6mm of tread left it makes me wonder how much they start with and how much is left when level with the wear indicators.
anyone know?
carlos…
I think 48’s only start with 5mm so maybe someones learnt how to grow them !!!

Wear makers are 1.7mm I believe
Yeah, 5 mm straight off the rubber tree
