Jut spoke to Matt and its game over for today
First some electrical gremlins to iron out and then problems with fuel pressure which looked like a faulty pump. It’s gonna stay at TDI and they’ll fit a new 044 on Mon and have another go…

We all put up with the shit because we know that its worth it when they’re working. If I wanted no hassle whatsoever motoring I would have bought a yaris! Hang on,…thinking about it I could have bought a Yaris
Strange things, fuel pumps!!! My original tank pump gave up the ghost earlier this year after 12 years loyal service
So I just came across the graph from last time the car was on the dyno when Scuffers mapped it a few years ago after John fitted the DC5 manifold…we’re expecting a couple more ponies next week
I would LOVE this power…
BUT would miss the VHPD!
That graph is so similar to my last dyno, peak power and torque is really similar, your is going to be way better after this transformation
All looking very smart indeed Ben. You’re a very lucky boy indeed!!
And regarding any little issues that crop up, better now in a controlled environment than out on the road or track where they could lead to a more serious problem. We had a Bosch 044 pump fail on us this year for no reason and after only very little use.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing the dyno results and also your comments after you first get the chance to plant the throttle in 2nd gear.

Right then, a quick update because I’m knackered.
So it made almost exactly 50 extra horses and came in at 322.7bhp@hubs Here’s the graph :
And here’s before and after, its pretty obvious which way around it is :
Now its not like it a competition but here a comparison of mine vs Tim (muu). Our cars are very similar but have different exhausts and slightly different pulley size choices - very similar plots apart from Tim wins pub bragging rights I’m in the blue and Tim’s in the red.
I’m well chuffed and thanks to Matt for getting this far.
I’ll write more detail about the spec and the most important thing of course is picking it up and giving it some stick!

Yup the performance this thing is now capable of is best saved for the track…it really will be VERY naughty.
