I have been toying with the idea to upgrade my standard exhaust for a while now and i was thinking of taking the plunge today and ordering the 2bular 7 x 22 oval tip which after emailing Jim he can sort for me (i am keeping the standard cat and manifold). Has anyone got this setup? I want it to be quite loud and i would love pops and bangs. I am not planning to do any track days. Thanks. John
De cat for pops and bangs I would have thought
thanks ade. i want to keep the cat though really if possible
Hi John
I have got that set up on mine and you do get a few pops and bangs and when you floor it it is loudish? Some times would like it to be bit louder.
Rick
My old stage 3 used to pop and bang with the standard cat and manifold …
I think it will be loud enough being a 7"
I am i correct in understanding the 6" x 22" oval tip 2bular will be too loud?or are there any happy owners?
depends on your definition of too loud
will be too loud for most trackdays
My 8x22 2bular pops and bangs a little bit, i imagine that with a decat and 4-1 manifold it would sound amazing!
Try youtube for some exhaust videos although they will sound different than if you were next to the car.
If you’re not tracking it, the more noise the better IMO
weirdly mine does not really pop and bang as much as you would expect considering I have a large bore manifold silenced decat and an 8*24 chambered system, sounds wicked on full chat and pops on gear change but not really any other time…
Ordered a 7x22 oval tip from jim. Will be with me on tuesday looking forward to it
Don’t forget that it will get louder and will pop more the older it gets…
Sounds perfect for me tim
I think my 2bular is a 6x18 oval with a sport cat and manifold , I’m not sure Jim makes that size anymore , it sounds fantastic , not in your face loud on tick over but a nice burble , sounds awesome flat out , pops and bangs on overrun , not sure it’s track friendly though
4/1 makes this motor sound sublime …
Best sound outside of F1 … To my ears anyhow
Always loved the change in sound when fitting a proper manifold , 1st fitted one in 1987 to an Opel Manta and was hooked ever since …
Used to fly comp R/C planes as a kid and was forever tuning exhaust timing/tuned pipes …
Post somehow duplicated itself !
I had a 6x18 oval with a std cat on mine for a bit but had to take it off in the end
- Because when I got into bed at night my ears were still ringing and was worried I would go deaf
And 2. Because the missis and neighbours were complaining of me driving down the road
Did sound epic though!!
had a V8 range rover once …and … just for a laugh cut off the exhaust just past the manifolds … Bejeesus what a sound !
Lol, funny as I don’t think it’s that loud and it must be louder than yours with the sport cat and 4/1 manifold , I don’t use it as a daily driver though to be fair , my neighbour can’t complain as he’s got an F40 without a cat , it shakes my sash windows , he dosnt get complaints from me either as I love the noise

Have you got your exhaust fitted yet dicko?
I’d be interested to hear your review…
Not yet chalkey. Jim has had few delays but it should be with me tomorrow and hopefully fitted on friday. I will post with my thoughts over the weekend thanks for asking
