I have been offered a fantastic oportunity to buy satin black 240R wheels.(brand new, not used or refurbs!!!)
Did I go ahead?? Oh yes…
They will be 1295.00 + vat (inc uk delivery)
Placed the order a few weeks ago! Was told today (Tuesday 15/1/13) that they are nearing completion of the machining stage so just painting to do. They told me late this month early next…Heres hoping as I want some for my own car.
There is a picture showing the style of wheel on my website http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/240r-lightweight-forged-alloy-wheels.html
Its a silver one but im sure you all know what a satin black wheel looks like!!!
I can get silver but they will be a special order ( can change some of the current ones if any one needs some but you will need to be quick!!!)
Yes they will make an S1 version, But sadly I dont have the funds to make it work!! There is a 20,000 charge per wheel design to cover tool making and destruction testing of each design, So thats 40,000 for a lotus set as we have two different wheels.
So IF I could find 100 customers (very very very doubtful) I would need to add an additional 400.00 per set just to get the tooling cost back.

That’s an amazing price!
Shame I don’t ‘need’ any.
I thought so, but I have sharpened my pencil as far as it will go!!!
Bollox to that - is your car running/ready for Anglesey yet???

Fair enough. You could probably get up front interest for 10 sets but 100.,no way.
Looks like that route just won’t ever make commercial sense…
Yes apparently but the same applies, Its a new wheel so minimum order and the tooling costs!!!
Wow that surprises me, sure that the prototype GT3 cars had larger rears, all be it with a huge spacer to get them to fill the arches. Maybe I’m wrong. If it is true you can see how Braid get their orders.
I was told how they made the wider wheels for the GT3 concept.
Take two 240 wheels, cut one just inside the outer rim. Cut the other just inside the inner rim. Take the two widest hoops and weld together. Magically, you now have a very wide 240 rim. And a very narrow one if you like as a bonus!!
