Ha Ha, I see simon has brushed up on his interview manners, I remember from snett when I raced with him after the race the bollocks word founds it way into the interview!!
Still car looks like its going well jamie, will try and get along to one of the rounds this year.
What a weekend!!! Loads of trouble and solidly working on the car, but we did at least win.
Yesterday, there would have been a 1.10 dead or perhaps better if we could have got more than 2 laps out of the car. It’s now generating so much grip, that around Corum it was pitching over lots, thus creating bad driveshaft angles and melting the tripod joints. We also only ran on low boost yesterday to give the joints an easier time. So, so much more time in the car, which is nice to know. Full report to follow soon.
Quick vid here, but the tripod joints are causing such bad vibrations which caused poor camera footage:-
Well done lads sounds like an incredibly frustrating day but with an amazing outcome!
I had one eye on the TSL timing on my phone and I was trying to work out what was going on as Scuffers was just not out there putting down times. You must have done the fewest laps in the day.
Astonishing really that you were approaching 1s clear of the field on a low-boost setup. You could have gone for the lap record if it had been running sweet as I think that’s in the 1:10’s!!!
Yes, we didn’t enjoy winning as we did, however it did highlight what could have been and how quick the car is, even with issues and on low boost. We’re now thinking that there would be a possibility of a 1.08/1.09 or thereabouts, but we’ll probably never find out. Out of interest, the car is grippier than we thought and is now holding onto 2.1G sustained in cornering!!! A lot more than Scuffers has ever seen before and the reason why tripod issue came about.
Sounds like some interesting challenges to overcome now - I guess it’s always going to be the case when you are pushing the development of these awesome little machines to extreme limits… hopefully the reliability will come with time and some clever thinking
