2010 spoiler or not

Absolutely

Mine arrived - did anyone get instructions with thereā€™s? Iā€™m interested in the exact location on the rear clam where you mount the side mounts for the rear wing.

Just make sure you can open the boot

Seems to looks fine on top of the old spoiler. Definitely bigger surface area and more stable and actually looks a lot better in the flesh than in photos.

If any one needs any measurements I will be happy to take some at the weekend. The gap between the front of the wing and the boot lid is mmā€™s.

lolā€¦it is uber close to the point of thinking someone in the design dept at Lotus was having a laugh.

Yes, I remember taking a peak at a CUP 260 in the factory and trying to open/close the boot and thought ā€œsomeone is really having a laugh hereā€. You canā€™t get a fag paper between the wing and boot lid.

21GG - measurements would be great, just want to make sure everything is aligned properly.

Some measurements and pictures close up would be useful.

I reckon its pretty easy to prime, spray and fit yourself without going to a specialist. Itā€™s essentially 4 bolts into the clam and 4 bolts for the rear wing to the side mounts.

In answer to the original questionā€¦

NO

Job done, if anyone wants one quickly Wayne at Sinclaires Motorsport has them in stock. Itā€™s an hour labour.

btw - Car feels much better and stable at high speed.

Looks superb!! Canā€™t wait to get mine fitted.

Can see a lot of people going for the 2010 spoiler.

What have they done with the old fixing points?

Ade - Nothing as they arenā€™t really noticeable.

Should have mine next week from JCT also

Not yet, as Iā€™m still awaiting for my extended roof scoop but I probably take it to Stephen at Phoenix Motorsport.

Have you got any pics from the front and side to show the old with the new?

I am guessing it would not be so easy to just leave the old fixings on a lighter colour car, can the mesh be changed? If so I am guessing the body part could be filled and painted.

Boothy

Theres been some discussion on lotustalk about fitting a 2010 spoiler to earlier cars and from memory the official word from lotus USA was that the later cars rear clams are built specifically to take the spoiler mounting (as in some reinforcement under the rear clam mounting points).
I guess on earlier cars you may run the risk of some cracking, etc on the rear clam at speed once the spoiler does its thing and generates some downforce.

Personally the cynic in me thinks this might just be marketing spin from lotus themselves to get people to buy a '10 exige rather than update their cars.

Again, this was all detailed on lotustalk, so these are not my words although it does make some sense when you think about it.

Sounds like BS to me although mine has larger washers attached than the crappy ones Lotus provided with the kit. Will keep an eye on things.

Should get mine later in the week but iā€™m not sure how to get it sprayed, that is all one colour (silver) to match the car or all black. But i then thought about the end plates black and the blade silver or vise versa.
Any ideas.
