1M Pictures

Keep it, and it will appreciate

Haha the Caterham is so damned effective on circuit the 1M would feel like a bus!

This is true,ā€¦still deliberating. Need to go and have a drive of the candidate alternative and see how I feel about it.

What is the alternative?

I was thinking late Merc E63S as they are massive and I figure 580bhp/800Nm would probably suffice  Depreciation is so tragic in the first two years that Iā€™d probably be able to do an on-paper swap. Theyā€™re very rare though. Only two in the UK and neither of them meet my requirements. Unless something comes up that really rings my bell Iā€™m happy to stick with the 1M. Recent research into the market shows that the 1M has been effectively a year of free motoring.

Well as I havenā€™t got 60K to spend on a lovely 1M Iā€™ve done the next best thing and secured a lovely M135i Coupe in black.
Factory standard low mileage unmolested car.
Only 30 bhp shy of a 1M
Cant wait till Tuesday when Sytner BMW deliver it to me ā€¦
picsā€¦

Looking good. Make sure that there isnā€™t a jingling noise from idle to about 1500 rpm though.

I couldnā€™t hear anything untoward and you know how I hear strange noises !
12 month Sytner warranty tooā€¦
What causes a jingle on these ?

Stunning car John

Jingling noise is really expensive!!!

Itā€™s the wastegastes rattling around in the manifolds that stops when positive boost pressure is applied. New turbo/manifolds and stuff. On a 3 series its a couple of days work, so canā€™t see it being less on a 1 series!!

The other thing to check is the calipers as some have plastic coated pistons that melt/crack with use.

Other than that, loving it!!

Know a man who may have some ā€˜upgradeā€™ parts if youā€™re interested?

Brakes are 6 pot Bremboā€™s and brand new discs and pads just fitted by the dealer impressive brakes for a small car.
I,m glad I had a free 12 month warranty to cover such issues if they arrive !
Only 35k miles from newā€¦
There is one upgrade Iā€™ll be wanting tho ā€¦
A proper diff !

Lol, not surprised on the diff!!

Take a pad out, just for your or my satisfaction. Itā€™s the 6 pot bremboā€™s that give the issue. Have a google.

Cheers ā€¦
Iā€™ll take a look when I get it.
Money transferred today so Iā€™m ā€˜itchingā€™ now !
Couldnā€™t afford a 2013 Cayman S
Maybe next year

BMWā€™s are weird. Ultimate driving machine where some things are concerned. Waaaaaaay off the mark where others are. Very strange.

I had a drive in an M3 around 1990 and was less than impressed ā€¦ Didnā€™t consider them since till about a year ago.
Surely at 15k tho a 135i is a performance bargain against a 1M at 50 - 60 k?

Agreed, total bargain. Although sadly 1M today is only going up in value. 135i maybe. Who knows?!!?

Well the 1M is rare and already has classic status .
The 135i COUPE is rare too , especially factory standard.
Most of em will be written off in time by chavsā€¦making them more scarce.
At only a smidge behind a 1M in performance I see it as a very good buy.
Who knows , but my 15k was making frig all interest in the bank

Yup it is certainly a performance car bargain, great purchase

1M prices are very mileage sensitive. ~Ā£60k for <10k miles and ~Ā£40k for >40k miles,ā€¦amazing really for a car that cost Ā£40k new 6 years ago. I did well when I bought mine from a private seller within walking distance a year ago.

The 1-Series coupe is a really nice sized car for british roads and I think youā€™ll like it a lot John,ā€¦once its got a proper mechanical diff in it of course. Amazingly the 550bhp E63 Wagons I was looking at donā€™t have an LSD as standard it was like a Ā£3k option :open_mouth:

Cheers Ben ā€¦
Roll back 7 years and I had a slating for merely suggesting a proper diff
Eddie The Eagle lives on !

dont buy an AMG without a diff IMO
