Well it actually cost me nothing because i had all the materials i needed although i will have to buy some black spray paint
What do you think ?

I think you will be pulled by the RSPCA…
That IS a Rabbit Slicer!
Looks good! Whats is made of? Looks like it may flex down a bit at high speed?
Now that look nice, what’s the story Mike?
Looks like a boomerang on steroids.
It’s cut from a sheet of Trespa, water proof, stiff, strong but brittle.
So doesn’t move much but if i do hit anything it will probably just snap off.
Needed a new splitter after kissing the tyre wall at Cadwell but the choices for the s2 are limited, you get the standard type or for a kidney you can have a carbon Reverie type.
So this is a bit of a work in progress
I still have both kidneys
But sadly no cash
Well that didn’t work or it actually worked too well, first run up to a 100 and two big chunks snapped off and went under the car.
So now need to find a better material and i will probably make it a bit smaller.
oh dear hope it aint damaged anything else! was lucky it went under the car not over the top
Quite a few race cars have them made from plywood, as it wears well should it clip along the floor. Noticed just how many have plywood splitters at the Autosport show. Quite interesting really, its obviously pretty strong for the weight too being a laminate. Maybe worth a go?
It crossed my mind but it seemed a bit low tech, possibly ply stuck to a thin sheet of plastic for looks.
Funny how ‘low tech’ works and ‘high tech’ does not eh!
Trying again and i think this one looks a bit better as well, I’ve added points at the ends and its shiny.
Its not tested yet but this is a lot stronger
Mike
Suggest you attach it with nylon bolts, which will break before the clam gets damaged, in the event of a …
Good idea, i shall sort that tomorrow
Also, Mike, I’d be surprised if it doesn’t flex like buggery. Take a lot at MarkA’s car at Spa (zoom in to say 400%):
i suspect that’s why MK1 broke, but i have a plan !
MK2 is made of plastic sheet so i am going to get stiffeners welded on.
With a bit of testing with a video to see where it moves the most i should be able to reduce flexing like on MarkA’s
Mike
Mark’s, mine & many others’ here are made from plastic (supplied by www.lotuspower.co.uk). Also, they come in 2 pieces, one per side - again a “safety” feature in case you park against (as opposed to “close”) a kerb etc.
Deepends on what you are trying to achieve.
Think of it this way, if a splitter makes 80kg of downforce, you need it to be strong enough to stand on. Especially on an S2 where the air immeadiatley hits something pointing the wrong way to which you are trying to send the air.
Does looks cool though!! And way better than spending huge money on a genuine one.

But you weigh twice as much as me, & half as much as Sean, so where does that leave the splitter?
