I have been on the net looking for a nice S2 Exige and came upon a lovely grey car for sale at Murray Motors in Edinburgh.
Called about the car today, but the very friendly salesman informed me it had no aircon. To be honest that is really putting me off the car, as I’m sure it wouldn’t be the most confortable place to be on a hot Summer day with no cool air…
I had aircon on my 06 car and didn’t use it during the two summers i owned it. tbh i only got it to aid selling the car. If you get it for the right price go for it.
That seems top money. Looks like a no pack basic car. Not performance pack or touring pack, and no air con. Not even a particularly low milage example. Nice colour though. Might make a good base for a race car, but if you are after a road car I’d probably skip it.
All depends if they are throwing in full set of new tyres, service, warranty etc it might not be far off, but if not 18 tops at a dealer and less for private. Buyers market as we keep getting told.
Sure someone will be along to disagree in a minute.
Mine’s an 05 without aircon. Doesn’t bother me- it’s fine whilst you’re moving along with the windows down and mine’s only for weekends/fun anyway. If you intend to run it as a daily driver, I’d say you need to have it.
I saved 1500 when buying the car new by not having it. It remains to be seen whether it’s worth that much less than an identical model with aircon if I were to sell it.
Really depends on the person driving the car imho…
I personally would be way too hot in summer without A/C…
But there are many who can tolerate heat and so would,nt be an issue …
Some peeps even emigrate to warm up !
ALSO … I agree with Evo … This is strong money for this car at the moment .
I looked for around a year to find the one I bought…
Stick around … some real cracker of a car will come up for sale when you least expect it
Hi
I don’t have air con either, and its not been a problem for me. Just wind down the windows and you seem to get plenty of air into the car.
Its all up to the individual. For me having the car as light and as basic as possible was what I was after.
I have a/c and on the few times it’s been on a long journey, ie 4-5 hours it’s been desperately needed.
I only really use mine on the track and bought the car for the Performance Pack and not the a/c.
The a/c in my case was a brucie bonus, but no doubt turn heads more than a car without it when we come to part…
I too only specd it with resale ease in mind. I wanted the lightest spec I could from factory. But I find it useful when on circuit as I tend to do 30-40 mins on circuit at a time.
The heat is no problem in summer in the UK apart from motorway journeys.
I can re-iterate what has already been said, the AC is essential for de-misting and de-humidifying in winter, I imagine it would get pretty damp and things would start rotting otherwise!!
When I bought my '05 Exige Cup, there was no air con option.
I was a bit concerned about this in a closed car. OTOH, air con adds weight and could be seen as “spoiling” the purity of a Cup car.
My dealer assured me that, if I decided I wanted air con later, he could always retro fit it.
Having driving it in hot summers, I don’t need aircon opening the window is effective enough and even at autobahn speeds does not cause undue buffeting.
To be honest, if you want an Exige as a track car, leave it off the lighter the better!
If you want an Exige as an every day car, (don’t flame me!) I feel the 111R actually offers a more user-friendly package (rear visibilty, roof off, etc,) then go for fully loaded.
Mine is just for “playing”, mainly on track not for everyday and certainly not for winter.
