Yota ECU Map???

Saw an S2 Exige advertised as having a re-mapped ECU. Now the only one I thought was about, was the one that lowered the cam change over point. So, e-mailed the blokey, and he came back saying that it was one done by Castle Lotus, and that he reckoned it was now putting out 230bhp, 0-60 in 4 and 100 in 6 (I assume he meant 6seconds after the 4).

Now while Im sure the figures are utter bolloks, is there any truth in this Castle Lotus Remap thing? Had a look on their site but see nothing?

David

talking out of his ass.

You’ll struggle to get a 2010 Cup 260 to hit 0-60 in 4 and 0-100 in under 10. You’ll need atleast 275bhp/200lb/ft torque to get any decent standing start times.

Always knew the figures were worthless was just interested to know whether Id missed a large step in ECU cracking recently.

Anyone heard of Castle Lotus offering something to that effect?

David

Without getting into a huge debate about exactly who does what there are now a few options for changing the ECU map. Lotus, Hangar 111, Sinclairs and perhaps JSD?

As far as i know…Lotus just offer the cam switch point change…Which to him may feel like extra power due to the new delivery.

I beleive sinclairs are the only ones to offer a live mapping facility at the moment. Unless iv let some information splip between my fingers.

Lotus can upgrade you to any of the maps they have for the 240, 255, 260 and 270 variations. This is the expensive route.

Hangar 111 do a few maps for lower cam change, 200bhp NA map as well as maps for their 265, 285 & 300bhp Komotec conversions.

Sincs can do pretty much any map but only really market the Gotham & Katana upgrades as those tend to be the most popular. If you’ve got a few aftermarket mods then they also do a custom/bespoke map for a few hundred quid plus dyno time.

Not sure about JSD, I would assume they could do the same as Hangar111 unless they’ve cracked the ECU.

Cracking the ECU isn’t just one ECU, its many variations…from 2004 to present day.

As far as I am aware “The re-map” it’s self gives no extra power, it only allows you take max advantage of any mods you have done like better exhaust or intake.

The idea that a remap can give “loads” of extra Power is fantasy.

First post so apologies if I sound a little ‘amateurish’! I’ve had my S2 Exige for a year now & have just upgraded the exhaust system to a 4-2-1 manifold, de-cat and 7 x 24 exhaust. All by 2bular… I’ve been hunting about for the best options on my ECU and was recommended this one by Hanger 111;

ECU Optimisation - GT Spec 200 for Induction & Exhaust Modifications

As my Exige is NA I am only expecting an increase of 10-15bhp tops! Only due to the re-map taking advantage of a complete exhaust overhall!! But 230bhp claims…!!?

Where did you get the 230bhp claim from as Hanger 111 only claim just over 200 which is what you would expect

Mike

I have Jim’s 421, decat, 8" GT3, ITG Maxogen and the GT spec from Hanger111. Evo’s car with a Quicksilver system was the car used, have a search on here you’ll find it. What can I say, I like it, works for me…esspecially now with the decat on! But then again I see Neil on track running hardly any mods at all and he blows most people away…so like most mods it’ll improve your car but not “your” performance

It’s not fantasy. I had a stock katana map and then a custom map a few weeks later. Power delivery was smoother and the car pulled harder much lower down the rev range.

You can buy all the mods you want but without a remap your wasting money.

Sorry last bit of post wasn’t very clear!

I was referring to the initial post with the 230bhp claims, not my own set up. I’m only expecting around a 10bhp increase! Every little counts!

I think Exige77 meant “reflash”, not remap

Oh and btw WELCOME there buddy …I need more N/A chaps like you, most of these tossers have superjiggy thing bobs

I was a N/A chap like you for almost 3 years. On track a supercharger makes little to no difference other than overtaking cars that refuse to pull over on the straight. Nitrons and some decent brakes were the biggest difference by a mile.

230bhp on a NA Toyota motor ain’t happening unless you stroke it to 2.0 along with cams, manifold, induction & de-cat.

Thank you jonnyfox & blacktoy! I shall put up a post saying hi very shortly, i’m just sorting out some pics on photobucket & I shall make my introduction! Sticking with the N/A for now!

Reflash is just replacement map. Just usually another off the shelf map to take into account a number of small mods. Still a re-map. You can get a custom re-map that is tailored to your exact engine and mods combination.

If you have forced induction the difference from a re-map can be much bigger. I have more than 300BHP from my Yota and have all the little dips in the graph ironed out. Custom is the way to go if you have a turbo or Blower.

Bloody converts

On 12th December there is a Yota Dyno shoot out at Sinclaires to see how all the various upgrades compare on they same dyno on same day.

Any one from here going ?

I am, should be good, just need to make sure I get it back from Proalloy in time
