Yoko AD08

Anyone got any experience of these?

I’m off on a 12 day Euro trip (with some other exige.com chaps) later this month, ending up with a trackday at Spa, & watching the LOT races - potential mileage must be around 3K.

Whilst my 888Rs are okay now, the rears will be shot at the end of the trip, so I think it would make sense to bung a new set of tyres on before we set off. Thought I’d try the AD08s, but would appreciate hearing any first hand experience from fellow exigers.

TIA

I can highly recommend Toyo R1R’s for that kind of use.

Thanks Mark.

I’ve been really happy with the R1R for this type of drive with possible rain.
It was a toss up between them and 08’s. I may be suffering Alzheimer’s but when contacting Yoko I think they said this years 08’s we a slightly changed compound??

Thanks for the feedback on the R1Rs. However, the tread blocks are similar in size to Yoko 39s, & are smaller than those of the AD08s. Back in the days before 48s were available, the 39s were the tyre of choice for the Exige, but they had a tendency to excessively grain up due to the temperature reached on track.

Given the above, I think I’ll give the AD08s a try - also helped by the fact that a set are available locally at Phoenix Motorsport, which I’ve now reserved.

Obviously, I would still like to hear from anyone who has used the AD08s.

im using the ad08s at the mo, find them really good, not sure on the wear rate tho yet. as for driving they feel good in the corners without a twitch yet, plus really good in the wet as the treads are really deep…

www.ears.co.uk are pretty cheap too Rob

Ta Andy & Dave

Dad, Jem tyres in farnworth are very cheap for ad08. Rears were 240 fitted and fronts slightly less when I asked. They are used to working on lotus and other more expensive exotica.

Thanks Andy, I am familiar with Jem - used them a lot in the past, with no complaint.

However, as I’ve already spoken with Ollie at Phoenix & arranged to take my car there on Friday afternoon. I am not at all inclined to mess him about (even if I could save a few quid,) simply because he has never let me down, & has always pulled out all the stops if I’ve needed stuff doing at short notice/in an emergency. If I agree a deal, I stand by it come what may, & that always pays dividends/works both ways in my experience. I initially phoned Ollie earlier today to enquire if he had any rear 888s in stock, as they’re all I really needed - he didn’t have any, hence the lateral thinhing given my impending trip.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Spa trackday was only sorted today, Chris - euro trip has been on the cards/mentioned here a couple of weeks ago, after my work situation was clarified (for 6 months anyway!)

Would be wonderful to meet more Exigers at Spa for 4 days from 29th September - see Lotus On Track for details

Say Hello to Ollie from me Pesky, and yes he has never let me down either he just fitted some red harnesses for me a few weeks ago.
