Well, it’s been far, far too long without something fast in my life, so I made a spur of the moment decision to upgrade my daily driver.
With the S1 Exige still in thousands of pieces as it has been for the last couple of years and no time to rebuild it, something just needed to be done!!! It needed to have 4 seats, be reasonably fast, reliable, not stupidly expensive to run and good looking. My sincere apologies, but I couldn’t think of a single other car that did all of this!! (within my budget)
997 911 Gen 2, C2S, Manual with lots of options. That is all.
Hmmm, lovely colour that. Is that a Gen 1 or Gen 2? Only thing with the sports chassis is that I don’t think it has PASM? I’ve done about 600 miles in mine in 3 days and on nice roads the hard setting/PASM or a press of the sports button is awesome. Along with the noisy exhaust button of course. Love it!!!
Love that Jamie and great to hear from you! Classic unadorned 997 shape with a great spec…what’s not to like I have to at some point tick the 911 box,…it has to be done.
I’m a firm believer that Lotus ownership is complemented by owning performance vehicles from other marques…esp when your Lotus spends considerable periods in component form
You should update your build thread too at some point eh! Oh and your name came up on a thread recently when we were speculating at having a Clash of the Titans and getting all the monster Exiges out together. That may be some way off from what you say…
I’d love to get the beast put back together asap but it’s just not happening. Dare I say it, I even toyed with the idea of selling everything of in piece parts but Scuffers talked me out of it!! The problem being that my business has suddenly taken off over the last year and my workload has increased massively. Not a bad reason to have less tinkering time available I suppose.
Yep, it is too harsh 99% of the time but it’s known to be better than it was on the Gen 1 cars. For instance, on and off the motorways yesterday on some nice slip roads, smooth roundabouts etc it was pretty good.
Gen 2, hence the rounded lower light etc. So like yours with the higher compression direct injected 3.8 without the duff intermediate shaft of the early gen1.
Sport chassis option I’d need to drive tbh but I like the idea of the LSD
Yeah understood, I’m guessing 3x kids does not help either eh! Don’t sell it though, the car was truly epic and has so much potental, I really hope to see it out on the TA circuit again…and pitching up at the Clash of the Titans
Sold my S1. And regretted passionately.
Sold my 997. Dont miss it a bit.only trouble the bloody prices seem to be increasing !
Could drive all day in Lotus sports seats…no trouble at all …2 hours in Porker seats and my back was f****d
