Since black and white is sooo hard to come by, may be yellow or orange is easier to find?? anybody is looking to sell soon???thanks!!
Well you could have mine but its a long way from the UK. I think i’ve had my fill after 10 years of ownership.
sent u a pm
Cant believe you wrote that Jez
Even if you Google ‘AA routefinder’ there are NO roads between NZ and France!
You selling Jez? Replacing with a tasty CSL?
I’m in two camps. The german Porsche GT3 or BMW CSL or stay with the Brits and the best example of a 340r i can find. I know the 340r is basically an exige witha different body but its an itch i have wanted to scratch for such a long time now.
Alternatively i just hold onto the orange machine and get buried in it. After all thats what i have requested in my will and the executors will have to carry it out. And i don’t really want to have to change the will again!
Well it’s a tough call Jez, the Exige is a wonderful machine, and I think the 340R is incredible, but do you think it’d be sufficiently different to the Exige to light your fire? The GT3 itch is one I’d love to scratch someday, but I’m not sure it could ever be at the expense of the Exige.
well, sometime really wanted to give up finding the S1, it seems the right one i wanted never comes up for sale, even if there is one then is around the S2 supercharge money…this s1 is a bit like the NSX before…the price went up crazy and then eventually it comes down a lot after that 1-2 year when everyone WAS looking for a NSX…
The S1 Exige will always be in demand, & the very limited supply has an obvious effect on pricing.
LOL.
hahaa… whos the gravy monster???..i think in few yrs time when the s2 prices comes down esp the 2010 model then the price difference will be minimal…honestly…if the 2010 model eventually comes down to around 22-24k in matter of time and if at that time the s1 still around the same price then i know which one i will choose…
I don’t see S1 prices dropping at all in the future… they are so limited that they will start (probably already have started) appreciated instead of depreciating.
I don’t think any of the S2’s will do the same…they will continue to fall.
An S1 exige is a safe place for your money at the moment IMHO…
Dont forget this is now the end of the Lotus lightweight era so there is every possibility that ( even )the S2 will keep its value as it looks like we will never see the likes of “Lotus” as we love it again.
That could have been said in 1974, but look what happened since
Plenty people have said that if Lotus becomes more profitable with a wider range of cars with mass appeal, there could still be room for enthusiast editions.
Part of Lotus history is it’s number of re-inventions, i just hope that someone or some corporation somewhere still see Lotus as a marketable brand if/when Mr Bahars plans go tits up
let see what i can find in these couple of months…
Tim
The world is a very different place to how it was in 1974, & reality is now in the driving seat!
UK, Europe & latterly the USA were the target markets, but they are not large enough to sustain the manfacturing arm of the company.
The future lies in exploiting the Far East, like it or not, & the “old” Lotus is now well & truly dead. I would be amazed if part of it can/will ever do a “Lazarus” & sell “cheap” lightweight sportscars again. I’ve said it before, & I’ll say it again - Caterham should buy the rights for the “Elise” platform & stick Duratech engines in (& also employ the relevent peeps from Lotus)! They have an excellent track record of doing just that & developing the “Seven”. Personally I’m not bothered at all about the badge on my cars, it’s just a friggin badge!
That thought had occured to me, I don’t hanker after the Lotus name altough I watch and understand the pain. I just like my/the Exige
Absolutely, Jonny - I love Exiges/Exiges/211s/Sevens(incl Caterhams) for what they are, & am extremely grateful to Lotus for making them in the first place.
I also love vintage Bugattis (lightweight/fine handling/well engineered & very fast) - & just look happened there!
