Hi guys I have a honda conversion in my car and I have noticed on the conversion list it has a ‘swirl pot’ installed. Can anyone give a simple explanation of what it is and why its good/bad? Also, can you spot them looking in the engine bay.
Yes, the swirl pot is like a second fuel tank which is fed by a low pressure pump from the main tank. The engine is then contantly fed from the swirl pot by a high pressure pump. Only normally used on the supercharged cars.

Yep mines is S/C. So I assume they are a good thing to have for a track car. Thanks guys.
Lastly, can you see them in the engine bay, are they obvious to spot ?
You should be able to see it. Most likely to be on the far left hand side in front of your induction piping. It’s just an ally pot, roughly the size of a can of coke.
Swirl pots are to help with fuel starvation, which can be an issue with the standard Elise fuel tank. As already said your low pressure pump, that can handle sucking a bit of air every now and then, fills the swirlpot, this then gives a constant gravity feed to your pressure pump.
You will see quite a few pipes going to the swirl pot, one from the tank, one to the pressure pump, one back from the fuel rail and an overflow return to the tank
