Wrong Car, Right Car

Anybody watch this on BBC 2 last night. Those of us who have used Nick Whale will have recognised John Willis who was the “victim” of a bugged attempt to extract the best deal on a new 111S by a member of joe public being heavily prompted by Jason Barlow and his car dealer sidekick. The discussion followed the normal pattern of negotiation ie keep pushing until the salesman starts to pull his hair out (sorry John but the rear camera shot did expose some thinning!)What did not come across was the fact that notwithstanding the inevitable two way haggling, Nick Whale remain probably the most straightforward dealer (sales and service)you are likely to encounter. After considering 6 cars (M3 Roadster, Subaru, Elise - all new, NSX, Griffith,Boxster - all secondhand) the guy shortlisted the Elise and Griffith but in the end went for the Griffith.IMHO the best final two choice but notwithstanding Lotus ownership is not without it’s problems, they didn’t really mention the fun of owning a secondhand TVR -service cost of +1K every six months, bits falling off, wet feet, etc etc (bitter experience) Still it made good TV!!

I understand he almost crashed the TVR in the wet! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/blush.gif[/image]

thought it was quite good - why oh why didn’t they supply an Elise with a Sports Silencer tho’ - lack of noise certainly counted against Lotus - guy thought noise was one of top priorities. Interesting to hear unbiased view tho’ - particularly on Boxster - uninteresting [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]!! Yep he had a big tank slapping moment in the wet whilst in the TVR [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image]
