Looking to buy a used exige about a year old. What sort of money should i realistically be looking at?Also what are they like on the wallet to run?I’ve come from owning a string of RS cars and Cosworths so i’m not shy to high maintenance.Cheers
About 20k (you lucky lucky person!), buy one! Check Autotrader, read this site and buy this months EVO mag for the buyers guide.Other than tyres it probably won’t cost you more than an RS.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
will get that mag mate, thanks for that.
I purchased a 2000/X Exige with 3800 miles approx. 1 month ago. I spent considerable time looking for one. At first it seems that there are alot around (10-20), but many have highish mileages, colours I did not want, or options I did not want (e.g. AirCon), this did not leave many in my budget. Expect to pay up to 24k for a good one from a independant dealer on an X reg. For Lotus dealers add 2-3k. For late '01 cars about the same.Happy to discuss real-time, as I wish I had the opportunity when I was looking.
Paid 25k - private… for a 2k miler, 3 months ago - top spec. Viewed approx 12 of varying specs/quality before I took plunge - absolute bargain - already had my moneys worth of fun! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
has anyone used an independant specialist to check a car before buying. Obviously I’m not qualified or knowledgable on the Exige to do this myself. Is it the safest bet to buy from a Lotus Dealer and pay a bit more?
I had the best deal yet. My Exige cost me one pound. Thanks to the lovely charity people at Manchester Airport. That was in December 2001 and I still have not come down from cloud 9. Nev. The luckiest man on Earth.

Cheers PhilThe story is I was flying out of Manchester and there was this beautiful car on a stand saying win me for a pound. It was being raffled for a charity. So I gave them my last two pounds for two tickets and then forgot about it. Until one November night I had a call saying well done you have won the car.I picked it up December 21st 2001. This is a true story which was printed in Lotus Life.Cheers Nev
