sorry for the crap post but god I hate that car. I know they are decent but the whole fake M5 thing… oh dear. Also, typical bmw driver, has parked on a keep clear area
A few weeks back I was heading out v early on a Sunday for a cruise with my mate. On the way to his house I had to stop at a roundabout for a bmw 540 with an M badge - it was the only other car on the road.
He then booted it off down the dual carriagway and I followed. He started to pull away eventually but I was back behind him after the next roundabout.
Accelerating off again at about 70mph, his head gasket went. I was completely engulfed in the white smoke and oil was spattering all over my car, I quickly pulled into the other lane so I could actually see where I was going!
The nutter actually kept his foot in for a little bit but then REALLY slowed down and limped off up the next slip road. I was kinda laughing, kinda cringing as that thing was probably a write-off and I had oil all over my windscreen…
Typical BMW driver ? I think you mean typical driver. Everyone (not including present company), irregardless of what they drive, is [censored] at driving IMO. And its getting worse out there. In the last week I have started noticing people stopping for red lights and then the car behind pull out and go round the car in front and through the lights on red, anyone else noticed this one ?
I totally agree about the fake M5, M3, etc. Why do they bother, its such a strange thing to do.
It’s just people for whom the only reason to buy a car is image… so as long as it’s looks like an M3/M5 etc etc, it’s as good as!!!..sad, very sad…
I guess one consolidation is that they’re not driving real M3/M5s, nothing worse that seeing a great car bought only for the image by someone who has zero idea of how to drive it (or interest in learning to do so)…
Yes, stealth is cool. I used to love blasting unsuspecting jags and beemers away back in the day with my debadged VR6 golf. The Corrado I got after attracted too much attention, I got sick of people having a go - I just didn’t bother with it.
Now I actually find I miss the odd drag off the lights. Since I got the Exige a year ago, just that lone bmw driver has played with me
What is so cool though is that people don’t pull infront of me at junctions and roundabouts, I think they see me, assume I must be going really fast, look the other way and back at me and realise they had actually had ages before I got to them but by then it is actually too late. Does anyone else notice that?
I think the Exige attracts attention from various types of drivers:
a.) Jealous drivers, the ones who cut you up on the motorway or undertake you and then pull in without indicating.
b.) “My car is faster than your car” drivers, primarily tw@ts in Impreza’s, EVO and M3’s.
c.) “My car isn’t faster than your car but I’ll still race you” drivers, perhaps the most dangerous kind who drive about 2mm from your bumper and then proceed to overtake you at any possible opportunity.
I agree that driving standards are shocking today, I was cut up twice this morning on the way to work by type a.)
