wont start (again)

Hi, just gone to start the car after replacing rear wheel bearings, the car has been stood for a couple of weeks. I turned the ignition on, and the usual noise of the fuel pump kicking in didnt happen, the engine will crank, but not fire. Any ideas?
Cheers.

If the engine would not turn over I would think it to be something with the immobilizer but since it does it must be something simple.
Check that for some reason the fuel pump inertia switch hasn’t tripped. Also check all of your fuses.

If it’s a standard ECU, just give the battery a bit of a charge.

At the lower end of the voltage threshold, it can’t always be bothered to send out ignition pulses. Annoyingly.

Believe it, or not, you’ll nedd a “fully charged” battery ie not just one that turns the engine over! Leave it on a charge overnight, & let us know how you get on.

I’d say Throttle Position Sensor if it wasn’t for the fact that you say the fuel pump isn’t priming. Are you sure?

Another vote here for the battery, i had the same problem and thats all it was.
I think the ECU needs about 11.8 volts to work. On My old car it dropped below that and it would not even jump start until the battery had almost a full charge to run the ECU.

Good luck

thanks for the help, it was the inertia switch that had tripped. all fine now.

lol! …and the prize goes to… the New Yorker!
