Withdrawal symptoms

Suffering badly from not being able to drive my Exige

I worked out I have only driven it once in the last 6 months; that being a 20 mile road drive from my house to the Tech 9 workshop.

The car went in for Ohlin 2-ways, Lotus Motorsport 6-point harness mounts and Schroth harnesses, weight reductions, lowered, corner weighted and a mega geo. I then left it there for winter storage.

A few days before the Exiges.com day at Anglesey I dislocated my foot and snapped my shin.

Two months later the cast is off and the plate is doing it stuff with the bone. I reset my foot myself seconds after the dislocation so that has taken weeks off the recovery time, but the ligament healing is the longest part of the process. I had my first physio assessment today and they were not hopeful of me driving a manual this year

I’d just got the Exige how I wanted it, readied it for data logging and had a serious programme of tuition lined up but now I am facing another 6 months of physio and my car on axle stands.

I find myself watching more and more trackday vids, loads of motorsport on TV, buying racewear, buying and reading technical materials on suspension, data logging, chassis engineering etc. but not getting any nearer being out there again

My Exige is coming home on Thursday and I am really looking forward to being able to give it some TLC and spend some time with it. But it won’t move for a while.

Guys if you can get out there every chance…you don’t realise how you take it for granted until you can’t.

I am going to be on such a mission when I get back out there…see you then

Keep yer pecker up, dude!

Was great to see you & family last Saturday - you’ve done extremely well considering the horrific injury. Hopefully the Physio can get you doing some “clutch type” exercises, as well as walking ones

Like you, I can’t wait to drive my Exige again soon - its presently being “fostered”, after I moved home on 5th May.

It would be safe anywhere your car Rob, much like the Great Wall of China both have a something in commom hey!

Cheer’up D!

Sorry guys being a moaning minney after some negative stuff today.

Will bounce back I promise.

Sold my E30 today, gave 1k to my wife for looking after me so well…I think I am losing my marbles!!! LMAO

ARE YOU ****ING NUTS…in my head I’ve just spent it for you on my car, your car I mean lol.

That sounds like good hard evidence to support the case for buying that Elan Sprint Con
