Just dont leave the handbrake on …
Bearing arrived, thanks.
Can’t drive it as waiting on AP to supply last bits for you.
We can start it up and you can listen to it down the phone though???
Nothing IMHO
Ooo, it has a handbrake, that’s news. I guess that means you don’t so thanks very much.
up
as i’ll need to dismount the driver’s side rear wishbone to swap the gearbox, i was considering to do a refresh of my bushes while at it (the car will be stuck on the lift anyway)
there are several kits out there and TBH i’m lost (nylon, nylatron, Polyurethane , etc etc) , so wondering what you would advice in 2013.
looks like the nitron kit is the most popular, but i already spent mega bucks on a new gearbox and i think they might be OTT for my driving skills, and i’m afraid the ride will be too harsh on the road (i do use my car on the road from time on time)
Its either standard bushes or the Seriously Lotus / Nitron / JSR spherical option.
For mostly road and some track I think everyone agrees the standard bushes are best and have WAY less maintanace issues than the Nylatron versions. ( which are just crap)
For mostly track the spherical option work well and are a sort of fit and forget option in my experience, the NVH doesnt increase so much in relaity either.

The Nitron kit is available from Dave at Seriously Lotus… In relation to other upgrades, the 450 or so is a lot less and IMHO is money VERY well spent
The bushes in NO way make the car ‘ride’ harder. Have NO worries about that at all mate. They are only controlling the wishbones within the mounting points, i.e.: minimising the lateral play that a conventional rubber bush has just because it is ‘squashy’!
The benefits are significant… the wishbones can move up and down with less drag and friction, and when the car is turned, non of the turning force is absorbed by the rubber bushes, it all gets translated into exactly where you want the car to point.
So, your driving skills are enhanced as what you do is what you get!
I posted about these sometime ago, but I think they are THE best upgrade that I have ever had on my Exige. A ‘no brainer’ IMHO.
I’m with Pete. They give the car such a nuggety direct feel. As far as NVH it was probably off the scale before and so fitting them had little net impact
do the Nitron bearings require any service?
or it’s just fit and forget?
Fit and forget!
