Wishbone Bushes by NITRON

John - have you fitted many kits to road cars, or have they all gone on race/track day cars?

We’ve fitted a couple of sets to cars that will be used on the road, but always where they are used on track as well. NVH increase is barely noticable to be honest, as by the time people are thinking about these, they tend to have fairly stiff springs/dampers, tow link kits, nylatrons that are seized/etc fitted anyway.

Has anyone ever thought about mixing rose and rubber across the top 'n bottom (rose on the latter) like the GT3 4.0 RS does?

Muu - what is the rationale behind doing that?

Thinking is around putting the rose joints only where they give maximum benifit, yet still have some compliancy up top
Middo - is it just seriouslylotus or all Nitron dealers? Notice post on seloc from Dave:

"Nitron are offering inner bearing kits at a special price of 316.00 + vat until midnight on the 29th January 2012.
(A saving of 20% or in money terms 94.80 inc vat)
Limited stock so be quick!!! First come first served!!! "

Scoob - valid point but I’m going to say that the likihood of this is low and whilst the consequence may be high, I can risk assess it as low. NVH is the real issue for me as i use my car entirely on the road.

Anyone know the cost of the JSR items?
All Nitron dealers could buy them but very very few actually stock them, I do.
Nitron have a limited stock of these at this price so I have bought a number of sets, Time will tell if it was a good move.

Oi Dave - get off the internet & into your workshop to finish your mota!

PMSL
Ps hello Pesky!!!

Just tried to order some more but Nitron have sold them all!!!

Surfing around for more info on this and came upon this video - there’s an amazing amount of movement in the horizontal plane. Not sure whether an Exige would have quite as much but…:

Dave - was hoping to order some at the old rate

Rob - adopted Yorkie only, my heart’s still on the other side of the Pennines.

Inherently nothing especially for road use but they are compromised in favour of nvh.

Seized were they?

I can confirm that I have had literally zero NVH since mine have been fitted, I haven’t even really heard the engine let alone road noise!

Ian

I fitted OEMs on mine, NZ has fairly rough roading, so high frequency damping is generally a good thing. IMHO the Elise/Exige is not really that affected by bushings (unless the OEM ones are knackered with age)… the bushes are small to start with (compare the size with the Corvette one in the vid, which are much larger, hence having more room for movement). Also, the car is very light, so the suspension loadings are lower.

I’ve driven a nylon-bushed car back to back with mine and mine felt no less precise. Rose joints are the ultimate of course, but I think it’s not as much of a benefit as it would be on most cars.

Rubber ones will withstand more weathering, more mileage and more abuse than any other sort… and when rubber ones fail they tend to fail gradually… get some water into a rose joint and it’ll wear and slacken or seize in very short order.

Good bit of kit for a predominantly track car though
