Just a quick question, my wiper packed up yesterday and I found that it keeps popping fuses when the wiper motors plugged in. Would you say its a wiper motor fault? If so how do you remove the motor???
Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like something internal to the motor has shorted if the fuse blows repeatedly, either way it’s probably going to have to come off.
First remove the wiper arm(see why below) then disconnect the actuator mechanism from the motor, this is a little difficult as you can’t see the screw (M8 Hex). Next there is three smaller screws(M6 hex head) holding the motor on so they need to come off too, same as before in that you can’t see them so you have to do it by feel alone.(all the screws can by found by putting your hand palm up under the wiper motor) That’s pretty much it. Remove motor and either find someone who can recondition it or pitch it at the bin screaming ‘vhere iz your German efficienzy zis time fritzy!!!’ (it’s Bosch)
When replacing the motor and it’s all re-connected switch the wiper on and off without having the wiper arm attached, that way it returns to it’s park position so that you can attach the wiper arm again.

Thanks, where would you suggest the best place to get one is. Elise parts do one for around 70, is that a good price?
I think that’s actually a little less than the price that I paid elsewhere.
Doh…
Same as the Elise - which is a Citroen AX wiper motor IIRC.
Could try a scrappy first if feeling in pikey mode.

Very very helpfull,
your all stars.
I’d like to adjust the ‘parked’ position of my wiper. I guess the trick is to remove the arm, and then put it back at the new angle?
Can anybody advise me on how to remover the wiper arm? I’ve taken off the retaining nut, but the arm is pretty well wedged onto the spindle. Do you have to get something under it and lever it off, or is there another trick I can use?
its probably on a taper you need to wiggle it a bit and it should pop off, be warned its a bit of a pain to get it just right expect to spend a long time doing it
I’ve had enough of bloody tapered shafts recently I spent half an hour trying to remove my steering wheel last week. Couldn’t pull it off, so I tried to put together a makeshift puller using nuts and bolts and a flat piece of steel. First I stripped the thread off a bolt, then when I tried a bigger bolt, it just bent the steel
I bet I’ll break the wiper off off
good luck
Thanks for the advice. I found the trick is to pivot the arm away from the windscreen and then give it a jiggle. Gives you much better leverage.
If IDG’s father is in the pub with Arfur Haynes, it’s a bloody good trick. He’s been dead about 20 years, eh Pesky?

Arfur obviously sired.
Or my deepest suspicions about my father-in-law are proving true!
