Dude, those Nitron bells look like the fixed ones, not the floating ones? Great reading the post… will have to come see it in the flesh before it’s finished!
Long story that I still haven’t quite got sorted yet… Not sure if I will be using the Nitron floating bells at this stage, its looking less and less likely tbh. I will keep hold of them though and use them elsewhere (on the 111r probably).
Another little update on the front rad cowling for the exiting air.
I was going to look to make one up myself but its a funny old shape that is required so I thought I’d see what could be done with the std oem part with a few mods before having to resort to making one…
It was 5" too wide so out with the Dremmel again to cut away the middle section and remove all warts, dimples and anything else that was fouling. Just needs to be glassed back up, fill all the holes and a new rear section put in and the jobs done -
Good stuff, I love a good Dremmel!
I did it up at h/park this afternoon using their larger air operated Dremmel type cutter… Wowwwww. I want one!!! (you can just see it in the corner of the last pic)
A few little updates on the car. It’s been very slow going over the Easter period what with h/park being busy and also having guys off on holiday.
I’ve had a couple of hours up there tinkering trying to get the front rad cowling finished. Im hoping the bodywork will all be done by end of next week.
Looking good, I would not fancy getting run over by it though
What would be your choice of vehicle for that?
Good going Gav.

Something squishy
Cheers guys,
Not much to do now on the front end (although I’ve been saying that for weeks…).
Looking good Gav!!
it does look awesome, nice attention to detail
Cheers guys,
I’ve had another couple of hours on it this afternoon up at h/park.
The front ‘really’ is all but done… I still need to make up a cross peice to finish off the front of the rad housing and also attach the towing eye.
There are other little bits like mounting the AeroCatch posts and filling off the edges of the ali sheets. I also need to remake the 2 small ali quarter sections on the rear air exit cowling as they are two inches too short… (pass, I havent a clue, i must have been having a moment!!) I’ll do all that when i strip it back down to paint the splitter etc.
The front clam and quarter panels are pretty much done in terms of having holes cut here and there and will be all primed on Monday. We just have the big job of mounting the rear clam and roof up now -
Nice job on the front clam Gav. Are you going to put a locating dowel pin in place of where the two bolts normally go at the base of the windscreen?
Where are you going to mount the aerocatch posts, they look a long way from the new Ali structure, will they mount on brakets from the undertray?
At some point I’d like to make my clams QR so I’m watching with interest.
Thanks Wes,
For this minute I’m just going to reuse the 2 bolt hole positions below the windscreen.
I was going to put aero catches on these spots but I think it will all start looking a bit messy and too much tbh.
What I will probably do is cut a small hole in the each of the access panels directly above where the bolts sit, then get some longer bolts with welded washers that when tightened up sit them just proud of the bodywork. I can get to them then without having to remove the 2 access panels…
The posts for the aero catches at the front will be attached to the wooden splitter directly below where the holes have been cut out for them, I’ll get them fixed in place over the next few days and put a piccy up.
There will be one further fixing right at the front in the middle to pull the clam down onto the splitter tightly, it will be just inside the mouth of the clam out of sight. For this I’m simply going to drill a hole through the clam and splitter and use some large penny washers with an 8mm bolt… Total fixings for the front will be 4(off) QR catches and 3(off) 8mm bolts which will all be easy to get to.
Did you find any bodywork louvres Gav?
Spray putty rocks
Nice Jaaaaag
