I had my suspension rebuilt a short while back.
While it’s a big soggy outside I thought I might clean everything again and reprotect.
What do you clean with?
Same question again for recoating.

Can’t help with your questions but following as I need a full suspension (wishbones) refresh.
Some sort of powerful degreaser/APC and then ACF50 (or XCP) on everything, but then Bilt Hamber UC on any horizontal surfaces that can pool water such as top of balljoints etc. this cures like a thick wax.
I use Bilt Hammer Dynax, either clear or black (harder wearing). It finishes nicely and I’ve never felt the need to strip and refresh, I just replace parts when they are needed.
Oooooh I didn’t realise they did it in black!
The clear stuff cures with a yellow tinge which is fine, but it also can attract dust a bit. Black would look loads nicer.
It is soft and gets dusty but if you ever want to remove it some white spirit in a garden spray and it is gone. TBH, black looks good for me, it’s the suspension on a car, paying a load to have it gold and red does not float my boat but each to their own.
I’m looking at doing a full winter suspension refresh including new bushes, blast and coat wishbones, new (spitfire) toe links, new drop links and maybe replacing the springs.
What’s the consensus on coating the wishbones? Powder Coat by a pro (I have a local trusted company) or diy with epoxy?
Are bushes easy enough to do diy or do you need a hydraulic press?
I wouldn’t recommend powder coating. It’s not resilient enough. Plus once it’s chipped you will hold water against the metal.
I had mine cerakote and they still look mint
A friend put POR15 on his 2001 S2 suspension about, umm 13 or 14 years back. He said it was “pure evil” gloop to paint (brushed). Trade off is it looks a bit ugly / lumpy (and might weigh more than the moon) but it’s stood the test of time.
Has anyone tried Cerakote on wishbones? I’m probably going to have my rocker cover done in this, just not sure if it’s suitable for wishbones.
Another option is Xylan coating, as used on the Eiiseparts t45 wishbones.
Yep! On my wishbones.
Sry Andy, missed your post!
There’s a company that does Cerakote near me in York, will give them a try RAW Coatings.
Have you got a link to some nice pic’s of your wishbones?
Indeed.

I daren’t ask how much a full strip, new bushes and rebuild is. I just don’t have the room in a single garage to accomplish this and mine definitely needs doing.
It’s more reasonable than you might think tbh. Car went from being a good drive to better than new
