Will it fit in the garage?

Hi all,This is my first post, so first up ‘Hello everybody’.I’m about to move house, shortly after which I’ll be in the market for an Exige or S1 Sport 160 Elise… my question is do I really need a house with a double garage to get the car in the garage AND get out of it, or can this be done with just a single garage. I have some experience of squeezing out of wide cars with big doors in the past (Fiat Coupe 20v turbo), but am not sure about the Exige / Elise due to the low seating position and large sills. I am 6 feet 2 1/2 tall and quite slim, but no yoga master!Any of you running these cars use a single garage? (if I can save money on the house, I can spend it on the car [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]).Thanks for your advice,Simon.

Well, I’m about the same size as you, and fairly slim, and I managed to get out of an Elise in a small garage. Can only open the door 1/3 of the way, and while it wasn’t too bad getting in (sort of slide yourself in) getting out proved to be more of a problem! Just make sure you have a mat or some protection between the door and the wall, and you can sort of “pull” yourself out.Its not easy or ideal, but it can be done [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

or if you do worry about chipping the paint on the door edges…Just push it in and out of the garage. They are not heavey carsTony

Guess I could always just get a 340R and do away with doors… hadn’t thought about pushing…

Welcome Simon,Do it, Do it, Buy the Exige, you will spend your life with a big grin on your face!!! I decieded to do as you are thinking, buy a smaller house and buy the car. After all a house is just a house but an Exige is, well, just supurb fun, awsome, bloody fantastic!!!The car is only 12’4" long and I can’t remember how wide but fits no problem and if you manage to get a house with a level drive, then pushing it into the garage is not a problem, it’s only 750ish Kg. I hardly ever drive mine in, it’s not worth starting the engine for just a few mins to drive into the garage, just push!!!Go for it, get the Exige and a single garage!!!

Well I did some insurance quotes, just from Tesco for now, and it comes out OK, Exige with tracking device is 816 once I’m 30 in November, so probably something to aim for. Thanks all,Simon.
