Wideband O2 Sensor

Does my 2006 n/a Exige use a wideband O2 sensor?

Yes AFAIK pre CAT why?

Looking at 2 of the kits from USA, BOE Stage 1 TVS SC kit and VF Stage II kit.

Phil@Boe was asking me whether I would need a wideband O2 sensor, as they supply an NGK wideband O2 with their kit, but this would be deducted from price of kit if I already have one.

You won’t need one if you get the correct tune done, I have never used the one I bought as I am always confident my AFR is correct.
But you can’t use the built in one to run an external wideband sensor, you need to weld a bung in to add the sensor. I actualy have an unused NGK one…

Ade, Just to confirm then, my car already has a wideband O2 sensor and if I ordered the TVS kit I wouldn’t need to get a NGK wideband.

If you want to be able to read what is going on you WILL need to get one, if you trust the tune you have for the car then you can get away without one, is the BOE kit the one that uses a different ECU? If it is I would not go near it with Jonny’s unless you are an expert at tuning, when I say expert I mean it, in no way is that kit a plug and go one.
Buy the VF stage 2 fit it run it on the tune if it is ok? The reason I say that is these tunes are done for the US fuel not ours, if you have any issues run it to Sinclaires for a remap.
In either case I would also run an extra wideband sensor and guage in the car…

Yeah it is that one with the EFi standalone ecu…why would you say it’s not plug n play as it’s programmed just like the VF stage II factory ECU.

The VF ecu is programmed by CharlieX with USA fuel in mind, I believe 91 Octane is equal to 95 Octane here, and 93 Octane is equal to 97-98 Octane here. Jermaine of VF assured me that there tune would be fine for the UK.

The BOE tune is essentially a similar tune using 91 Octane but based on a more efficient SC. So why should that be any different. If I leave it alone I am essentially in the same position as with the VF, but in a way, in a better position than with the CharlieX tune as only Sinclairs can tune the VF in the UK, and they are miles away from me so they are out.

But with the BOE I can take it to any competent ecu tuner as it isn’t ‘locked down’, and there are plenty in the north of England, if I wish to have it re-tuned for the UK fuel…so don’t have to mess around with it personally.

Thanks for your advice though, now and in the past, it’s appreciated

Enjoy and have fun with whatever you buy.

But if you go down the EFI route I would buy a NGK wideband O2 sensor as the map will use what they supply, plus an Aux O2 guage to check what is going on day to day. I have one I never used so we could do a deal?
