Why is the next step in peformance such a big one

Chatting with John @ JSR today and wanted to vent my spleen :astonished:

Mods up to 260ish bhp are pretty cheap these days but once you go beyond the costs V performance gains are on a diminishing returns basis

So 300bhp is going to cost around 4K and cross my fingers on the gearbox or add another 4K to safeguard it for a little while longer.
So a reliable 30bhp is going to cost around 8K

It then looks like the step up to 330bhp ish is around 1.5K

So 60-70bhp is going to cost the best part of 10K and you will be counting the days until the other standard bits start dropping off.

Other option is the Audi full on jobby at around 20K so I have to resign myself to the fact that to get an appreciable power increase it’s anything from 10 - 20K :astonished:

Or buy a S1

Feck me where you getting all those figures from - especially 20k for an Audi lump!

anyone heard about the new exige replacement coming next year? same SC power unit thats in the new evora, but in an exige style, massively lightened chassis…??? I would save the 20k and put it towards one of those! LOL

JSR - 16K + VAT

That is for one hell of a high performance conversion. Basically a full house all boxes ticked 430bhp conversion.

We finished writing the Conversion specs for the website yesterday and they will be live tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Once you have sold your original Engine, box, SC kit, shafts etc it turns out to be pretty good value when you get your head around the kind of performance you will have.

Peeps need to make clear where they are measuring bhp …
One man’s 330 at the fly could be anothermans 270 at the wheels …
???

I am in this position now myself, still not sure what to do, to go the max on the toyota engine still using the SC, 2.6" pulley will yield about 320hub hp or about 350 flywheel, the downside to get that is a 6k bill for the engine work inc fitting
or sell all my stuff and Audi it, I think the final bill after I sell my stuff would be about 9k for similar power, but then there is scope to go further, the biggest downside to me of doing this is reliability, I love the idea of turn up drive all day and then drive home ark in garage, change oil and pads when required and do the same again. Most converted cars spend time broken at one point or another.
The more I consider it, the more I think what I have is enough for me for the moment and if I want to go more, just sell mine and buy an S1 Audi car

Wish I hadnt looked at this thread, how much money have I spent…(!) Still love the performance though, is it just me or do you kind of forget what you’ve spent on a car when you drive it.

I darn’t add it up…

OK that’s some bhp - it wasn’t clear in the originsal psot and I was thinking of a standard audi lump.
