I have been given the chance to attend a corporate day at Silverstone on Monday to drive an Exige with instructor. I just wondered as it will be my first go roung Silverstone if there are any things to look out for.
I’ve now done two track days in my own S1(Anglesey and Oulton last Fri) and I’m looking forward to using someone else’s car and giving it some hammer!
How do you rate S/tone? I take it run-off areas won’t be a problem?
Anyone else done a corporate day with Exige as chosen car?
And, finally, it’s being organised by a computer games company promoting the Forza3, which features the Exige I’m told.
Has anyone tried the game, as I’m supposed to be “driving” the Exige on screen as well, and I have less clue about that than driving the real thing!
Just watch the corner coming on to the start/finish straight. Run wide there and get on the grass a little and your in the wall … usually both sides …
Yeah as Andy says the last coorner onto the start finish straight is the only place you can have a really big one and I have seen a few. SIlverstone is also super super slippy if it is damp.
You’ll be fine, Steve - the instructors know what they’re doing to help peeps who’ve not driven the circuit before.
Enjoy!
I’m hoping to really take advantage of the instructor.I’ve been fine with the two I’ve had at Anglesey and Oulton but this time, I’d hope to be encouraged to go faster and brake later, especially as it’s not my car. I’m really looking forward to it. Must check the weather forecast . . .
Watch out for the diggers as they are supposed to be modifying the circuit…Donington again??/
Have fun and dont get lost as it can be a bit of a wide open space…
With so many circuit variations, I was a bit worried about getting lost on the flat expanses of tarmac. Don’t know which circuit we’ll be using but thanks for your good wishes

me, me, me, me, me… coloured it Krpton Green as well
Steve,
Be wary of the fact that the car will be an S2 Exige. You may well find it to be far superior to the S1 & will therefore be tempted
You have been warned
No, a man who is happy to camp in a tent wont stray from an S1!
Gav
Hey don’t forget we chickened out of tents and headed for a B&B on a perfect English summer’s night!
Don’t worry, cupholders and sound systems don’t appeal to me.
Nothing beats a corporate jolly. Have a great day Steve.
Sounds like a really great day out - have a great one!
Mark
Just found out: Two laps!!!
Bloody long way to go for a miserable two laps!
Got to be able to wangle a few more.

So that’s a warm up lap and a cool down lap then
Oi, you’ve been missing for ages (busy fixing your car no doubt :/).
Clearly the truth & tempation of the S2 is hard to bear
So much for “Who’s lucky boy?”.
I spoke too bloody soon!
Set off on a scheduled 3hr trip to Silverstone at 7.10am on Monday and was not even over the Thelwall Viaduct at 10.15. Huge traffic jam J23- J20. Coned off lanes for miles and no sign of any roadworks or workers.
Total waste of time.
Three hours in a traffic jam and two hours plus still to go.
Abandoned trip, went in to bloody work and saved my day’s holiday.
Did, however, spot a titanium Elise S1 160 driven by a rather stylish blonde stuck in the same jam round Warrington . Hoped she was not overheating!
BUMMER indeed! That is bloody typical…
She needed a PRT by the sound of it!
HRT, maybe
