Mark - the Jackson Racing Eaton M62 is a proven package - and when fitted using a DC5 inlet manifold rather than the CTR version gives good reliable performance and well developed maps are available.
A charge cooler can be fitted to that setup as well to extract a few more HP - without the CC the power will drop away as temperatures get higher - but for road use that is not a great issue.
The Rotrex is an alternative but requires a lot more plumbing and has a far more limited user base.
Bear in mind, regardless of what anyone tells you, a SC install WILL mean more maintanance and parts wearing out faster - temperatures are very, very high and heat shielding etc is a must for reliability. For maximum performance a new exhaust may be required etc …
Tell him about the “noise issue” Andy (aka 2blackflags)
Thanks Andy, the install comes with the DC5 inlet manifold along with, high flow injectors, an auxiliary fuel swirl pot and a high flow Bosch fuel pump.
I am concerned about fitting a SC without a charge cooler - as compressing the air increases its temperature and in extreme conditions will cause detonation and seriously damage the engine. I can only presume that installers are getting around this problem by adjusting the map… I am starting to wonder whether a SC should really be fitted with out charge cooler at all?
I have a Larini exhaust, not sure if it is 4-2-1 or 4-1, will take a look when i get home…what changes are required…?
Also, what heat shielding needs to be done…?
Thanks for your response.
Pesky - what SC do you have…?
Mark
Jackson Racing on CTR type manifold - plenty fast enough for me, after running n/a for 3 years prior to that.
Charge cooler is not required on non DC5 installs. I presume that Hoffmans will be doing the install - if so, you’ll be in very good hands, & I suggest that you also get them to the geo.

Chris certainly appears to know his stuff - so good to get another recommendation. I am still undecided re the CC - however nice to know that it is not a necessity!!
The Nitrons and geo were both done by Chris…!

If you talk through your intended use, in detail, with Chris, he’ll give you pucker, straightforward, honest advice…but you know that anyway, I suspect.

chris is just finishing off my s/c s2 honda elise. std manifold, JR charger as above, I have specced the large Laminova / Mocal oil:water cooler and an alu. triple pass rad. full Nimbus heat shielding wherever needed
charge cooler + dc5 manifold can wait for phase 2 but I anticipate it will be plenty quick enough as is. 250bhp at the hubs / 800kg all in (inc. uprated half cage)

I am also going to upgrade to the larger Laminova oil cooler, and plenty of heat shielding…
I have decided to leave the charge cooler for now - especially as there isn’t much overlap in term of labour - so no real cost benefit to doing it now.
Let us know what you think of the conversion when you get the car back…
any chance some one could post a piccy or some details of where the heat shieding should be used ?? xx
