i have been thinking of getting an exige s with the 240 perfomance pack on. however when i go onto insurance websites and search for the exige s model i want to get a quote on it only gives the option of picking the standard 220 model or the 260 cup model. im guessing this is because the upgrade must be classed as being done post registration?
the problem posed though is that if the car came up registered as the 240pp model on the websites it would probably cost an extra 100 or so to get insured on it over the standard 220 model. even with being 23 i have been getting good quotes for the standard 220 model however if i have to say i have a standard 220 model and specifically name all the upgrades that come with the perf pack it would probably cost a lot more (being a young driver ontop of this wouldnt help with having to mention so many modifications seperately).
Basically my question is are the any insurers that recognise the performance pack on the exige s rather than having to name each upgrade individually over the standard model? if so im guessing they will be specialist sites rather than mainstream ones?
240pp owners how do you tell the insurance companies?
I ended up with Admiral. They dont cover non standard options like 2ubular although they still charge you for them! They have a tick box in the modifications bit saying % increase in hp. I ticked the 10% increase one, cant remeber how much it added, but I do rememeber the 220/260 being very similar in cost but the 240 more! go figure!
thanks for your replies everyone i will try them all out. thanks 21gg but did you only tick the option for the 10% increase because this would surely mean that the other upgrades over the standard 220 model such as brake upgrade, uprated clutch etc have not been mentioned and may make your insurance void?
I had many chats with them on the phone and basically as long as it was a factory option they were happy but wanted to ‘account’ for it. I actually ticked, 10% power, exhaust and alloy wheels as Ive got 240r alloys.
