My brake pads will need renewing very soon.
The current set up is:
- 304mm ally belled discs front with 2 pot calipers
- 282mm Elise part ally bell disc rear with 1 pot calipers
- CL RC5+ pads all round
On the road the brakes are more than good enough for the car and to be honest they are good on track. That is until you push a little further and then i feel the brakes lack a little bit of initial bite. This could just be down to the fact that the pads have seen there best. (Had this happen before)
So as much as i would like to go for 4 pots and 308mm discs front, 295mm and 2 pot rear it isn’t going to happen any time soon mainly due to cost. (unless some come my way at a really good price)
I am thinking of just fitting CL RC6 pads to get that extra bite. I had these on my S2 Exige and was fantastic on a dry grippy track day. But coupled with AP308 they used to squeal really bad.
What other pads are as good as the CL RC6 pads for performance and what are they like for road use and is there any where that give a good discount/price for Exiges.com?
I do have a pair of new AP295 in my garage from my previous S1 that i am looking to potentially fit at a later date, but i know i will need extended caliper plates and also have to remove the hubs and replace wheel bearings etc. Would these give too much braking to the rear?
