My rears are looking a bit sorry after Spa.
But I find them really difficult to judge compared to a normal treaded tyre.
What depth should they be replaced at?
I might take a pic.
Cheers!

Buy a tread depth guage
The same rule applies for these tyres as any other road legal tyre 1.6mm over 3/4 of the tyre width around the entire circumference.
I’m not sure what depth the wear bar indicator is at though.
Providing the tyres have reasonable visible tread, you’ll need to do a few road miles after the track for them to look ‘normal’ again.
I am replacing mine at the wear bars. I must be running them at too high a pressure on track as I’ve done the centre of the tread more than the edges.
1.6 mm is the threshold for passing the M.O.T …
But for being legal on the road 1.0 mm … is the limit.
EDIT:1.6 mm is the limit nowadays. … I,m still living in the past!

Hello John,
Are you sure?
That’s not my understanding. I understood that the current tread depth legislation requires the tyres must have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread in a continuous band throughout the central of the tread over the whole circumference of the tyre.
I think you are right there Mr,Shaggy.
I think regs have changed since I had that info…
Trucks etc. only need 1.0 mm
Cars need 1.6 mm thesedays. (used to be 1.0 mm when I was trading many years ago.)
P.S the car is great even though i keep rubbing my front arch liners away!
If your thread is inline with the threadwear line indicator, it’s time to replace it. Don’t risk it in an attempt to prolong the usage period.

Image above shows a pretty new A048 with the obvious threadwear indicator.
P.S the car is great even though i keep rubbing my front arch liners away!
Sorry for going off topic - but I removed and re-torqued my wheels the weekend, to eliminate the high speed wobble it develops, every time someone else has the wheels off for servicing etc!
I noticed that my rear O/S wheel liner has worn through at the front, obviously from the tyre? Sitting there, the gap is tight (less than a finger width) but not touching - does this indicate worn bushes or incorrect geometry - or is it a case of TADTS?
I can’t see how the liner in front of the rear wheel could be worn by the tyre. I’ve had a front one go but that was due to the fixing clip coming out and then the liner being pushed onto the tyre by the air when moving. Are all of the clips in place?
A finger is a lot if the rear wheel has been/is allowed to move that far.

Mine is exactly the same. Small hole in the liner at the same spot. Worth checking the geo as mine was toeing out slightly. Now rectified but its still tight.
Me too.
