Original owner commissioned what amounts to a CUP upgrade , it has 260 horses. lightweight flywheel, Ohlins, remote fire and electrical switches etc,
BUT keeps the creature comforts?? of Sports and Comfort packs (Heavy) Also has rear view camera and GPS lap timerā¦which will take me a couple of years to master!
So could it really be termed a āCUP 260ā ? If so should I delete the gold stripe and white lower section and wrap the lower half in matching Persian blue with CUP graphics ??
What do you styling gurus thinkā¦anybody a dab hand with photoshop?
Close post purchase inspection reveals quite a lot of corrosion on suspension and general lack of TLC on the underside and engine bay ā¦seems not everybody cares as much for these parts as me!! still will keep me busy over the winter polishing its bottom and fettling the suspensionā¦ .
Iād personally leave the appearance exactly as it is, as itāll always remain more closely associated with the Sprint design/model, than the Cup 260, and presumably is individually numbered/dated.
Did the retro fit extend to the carbon fibre bits also? If not, then that adds weight (pardon the pun) to keeping it designated a Sprint
As for the general lack of TLC, could this be as a result of the car standing around for quite some time between owners? I believe B&C had it for a fair while, and I recall it being on sale via Specialist Cars Ltd of Malton (Porsche specialist) prior to that. Iāve no idea if it found a buyer from them before B&C acquired it.
I guess you are right re the originality of the colour. And no carbon bits sadly.
After Specialist Cars it had another owner who did about 1500 miles in a year before selling it to B&C who had if for about 3 months before I turned up.
With only 8k miles in 6 years it did not get used much and we all know how cars deteriorate if left unloved. Low mileage is not always a benefit.
it is on the oil pipes recall list so will also have a Proalloy rad and SS towing post fitted at the same time.
Ant reca on the best post as there seem to be several types around.
Looks really good as it is i think you should leave the outside as it is now. I guess this is more comfortable than the s1 with all these extra comfort packs.
Its just gone into Matthew Bentley Racing for refurb of the corroded suspension and an uprated rad. ready for anglsey
Must comment on the poor quality of Lotus steel bits as after just 6 years there is multo rust on most steel bits which by modern day standards is pretty poor . Even your basic Scoda/Fiat etc will be better protected than that. Still it will keep me busy with the Magic Sponges and Por.
Hope their new EXPENSIVE cars are better protected otherwise owners will be peevedā¦or am I just too fussy?
Have Fun
Thanks all for your views.
Staying in Sprint colours but with refurbed suspension Willans belts PF pads and possibly Avon zz. Tyres.
See you all at Anglesey.
