I’d be more worried about the quality of your DIY Can you imagine that coming down on your car!
I’ve got this in my garage/barn. Depending on the room a tyre racking bay could be a good option? You can put boards along the sections you don’t use for tyres, makes for good shelving or workbench? I got two bays off of Ebay (picture shows just one) It was some time ago but I seem to remember two bays costing me about £200 delivered?
I’ve got 2 x 6 wheel ones. Perfectly functional and solid. One of them I had cut down and re welded as it was just too long. The key thing is mahoosive f+ck off bolts to hold it up
Thanks Graeme, I had the same idea by using mahhoossive bolts. For £95 it’s not a bad idea to keep spare wheels up out of the way.
P.s garage is mega! A friend of mine has an old 500 abarth and a 600 abarth. Let me know if you want to see pics. …the elan is just mmmm lovely. Well done you!
Interested in the arbarth pictures. Pm me if you’d rather. Ours is at weenie fiats in Swindon at the moment having work done. Having to choose between original refurb wheels or arbarth wheels. The latter are probably too bling for ours.
As for the spokes, that’s aero man. Needed when there’s 100 kg of lard on top
That’s really cool. Those original Arbarth wheels suit the car. They wouldn’t suit ours. A bit like trying to make your Elan look like a 26R, it just shouldn’t be allowed!
OK , I’ll take that as permission to thread drift.
What do you prefer? Our car has 126 wheels (ie have vents holes in rather than solid). Too much to recovert the hubs back to 500 (and disc brakes could be fitted if wanted).
Refurb the existing in silver with original 500 covers or bling Arbarth?
