Whats your exiges stablemate(s)?

Hello all.

I am curious about the stablemates that you might have for your Lotus.

I have my S2 Exige and a Passat TDi Clio 172 Cup! that’s about to goto the great scrapyard in the sky. Fortunately I also have access to my wifes car as a spare.

What else do you have other than your Lotus?

For daily duties a Mercedes 350 CLS Shootingbrake.

For the other sunny days

Aston V12 Vantage
Renaultsport 182 Clio Trophy
Peugeot 205 Gentry

And in midst of buying a BMW Z3M Coupe (Clownshoe)

The Pug is a bit of an anomaly but it’s staying put, the others including the Exige are my real world car hero’s, all quirky but about driving fun.

Interesting collection!

How do you find the shooting brake?

182 seems a logical stable mate.

The clown shoe is a brilliant car!

The CLS I guess is an E Class in a posh frock. And being that and an estate pretty much does everything well. Mine is the phase2 so a bit more modern, even has a factory retractable tow hitch that I’ve never used but I remember was very important to me when I brought it!

It’s pretty fast, great cruiser on motorways. I’ve driven from Oxford to Denmark in a single hit in it once 4 up with luggage and it’ll cruise on autobahn at 120-130mph without any drama.

So as a workhorse it’s great and does 38-45 mpg pretty much all the time which given weight/size and mine being a v6 I think is ok.

Which is important as I seem to recall these jump out to find your shin when walking past .

Interested in your experience - possible candidate for Bondtowers…

I’m pleased to say ankles are intact. Overall I just find it a really great estate. It was expensive in its day and it’s noticeable in the materials. All the dash and door tops consoles etc are all stitched leather there is no cheap plastics, so as a used buy it’s a nice place to be. It’s constantly comfy. It’s pretty dynamic given its size. Big boot. Mine has Harmon Karden and contactless open/start. You can upgrade the inbuilt screen for apple car play which modernises things nicely.

Expensive on tyres simply because they’re big/wide but much less than equiv SUV.

A rare beast these days! Any pics?

My main car is an m3 comp. I don’t really need the crazy power but I do like the bettering steering, brake and throttle feel over normal BMWs.

Gt86 does track day and sprint race duties in the road going car class, I really rate it. Slow yes but super to drive, you have to pedal it, and much more comfortable than the Exige. Also, it’s cheap enough that if I put it in the Armco I can call the scrappy and take the bus home.

S2 Exige
Just took delivery of a Polestar 2, LRSM - company car.
Kia Soul EV - wife’s car.

Two electric cars must make the Exige carbon neutral :slightly_smiling_face:

How are you finding this? Id like to change the wifes VW ID3 …

The VW id4 was on the company car list and last year we looked at the id3 for the wife before going for the KIA.

Hands down the Polestar is a better car than the VW id3/4.
Mines the LRSM with pilot pack.
It so well made, solid, smooth ride, quick without being stupid.
Costs me £6.55 to fully charge. These cold days I’m getting about 270miles. In the summer it will be about 350.
Good APP.
The infotainment is far superior to VW, in fact it the best I experienced.
I looked at Tesla, VW, BMW, Hyundai, Kia as a company car, if it was my money, the Polestar would get my £££

Noted! Thanks for the info!

Go test drive one.

Not yet. It will get expensive, fast!

As a daily family car we have a Volvo XC40 T5. Great, comfortable car with a good economy and enough horses.

And next to my Exige I have an Elan M100 S2.
The perfect car for smooth Sunday drives in the sun. Very enjoyable and still a phenomenal steering feel. I think I even love it more then my Exige… even if it’s (for many Lotus people) not a real Lotus.

We are now a two car family: 1xExige S1; 1x Mini Cooper after the RS4 (God, how I miss it) was sold mid year.
There are plans afoot but I’m finding it hard to make a decision . . .
