I am seriously considering selling my car to fund a purchase of a S1 exige.
So does anyone have an idea what my car is worth?

Strange thing to want do do. I had a ride in Uldis’s S1 at KH on Friday, and I have to say I was hugely impressed with the pace, and with Uldis’s super quick banzai driving, BUT it didn’t, even for a minute, make me want to buy an S1. Sitting in a sweaty furnace on a hot day would do my head in, as would (flame suit on here) the hassle and cost when the K series goes pop
If not in a hurry 26500 - 26995 but a priced to sell would be around 24500 to 25500 as above. I was offered 26000 in px this week for my 05 55 with 2k on the clock and 8 months old, but I know that the dealer had been offered 24500 and made the rest up with the mark up in his car.
I too am somewhat bemused as to why you would want to do this, but, if youre really set on doing so, Id say that its worth looking for a little more for your car, I dont think that somewhere around the mid Twenty-Six thousand mark in an unreasonable asking price, after all, running costs are likely to be a bit higher with the S1 so the extra cash may come in handy.
So, I still don’t know if Ed wants one just becasue he loves the shape, style, rawness, lightness, everything that makes an S1. If this is the case he has to follow his feelings and just get one.
Or because he has seen some very fast ones overtake him. If this is the case, it can be sorted by just driving lessons, and some upgrades.
Or maybe there are some other unseen reasons like finance…
As I said over on SE ed, its a totally different car. Hat off to you for wanting to give it a bash, but it wouldnt be me!
Oh, and if he is selling it as a few passed him at Knockhill on Friday, then I dont know where that leaves me, as everything was passing me! But my S2 is staying!
I’ve been looking at very similarly specced cars and ive seen good 04 cars going for similar money to 25k, so id say dont settle for anything under 25k!

There were a lot of very quick cars/drivers at KH last Friday - I was passed much more than at the average track day if it is any consolation
I would have thought the differences in track performace between a standard S1 and standard S2 Exige would be far less than the potential differences due to driver skill. S1 Exiges seem on average to be driven by more experienced track drivers so tend to look quick. I went out with Nick Adams from Lotus at the Tut Towers Event in 02 at KH in his boggo S2 Elise 135, and he was passing absolutely everything, including S1 Exiges and a 34OR. Conclusion - its the driver not the car hat matters most.

Absolutely true, particularly where cars of “similar” performance are concerned. About time I had some proper instruction, & a ride in the Tardis (thus also avoiding the Optometerist, young David )
Must say, I too am surprised that Ed is thinking of changing, if it’s purely a performance thing. That doesn’t mean that I would ever swap my S1 for an S2, cos I wouldn’t, but if I’d gone straight to an S2 in the first place, I very much doubt I’d do what Ed is considering.
cheers for the advice thus far guys, its really appreciated. I did indeed get passed by a couple s1s but that wasnt my reason for wanting to change. I have been in several other s2s and my car just feels a bit fat in comparison. I love the look, feel and everything about the s1, unfortuantely some of which has been lost in the s2. The rock solid residuals due to rarity is also a big appeal.
However, I am going to put this idea to bed for the moment.
I am very fortunate to own my current car and it is truly an awesome machine. More training is what is required to make me fully appreciate this fact. Plus as some of you are aware i am as mechanically minded as a wet fart and dont feel that this change is right for me at the moment.
This idea is going to be shelved until i can afford both!cheers Ed
I think it’s a good choice, especially having read this part:

S1’s will need a lot of TLC and if you are to rely on somebody else for you it could turn pretty expensive. Especialy having no dealer really qualified on maintaining the S1. With more S2’s being built, they are getting experience, but the S1 will always be a special case.
