What's in the 190 upgrade box?

Hallo!!
I’ve been searching Exiges.com for detailed overview of the 190 Lotus upgrade kit for VHPD engines and have found only few details.
Can someone describe me what exactly this kit includes and what are recommendations for some extra mods with the kit?
My problem is that I’m too far away from You mates. I’m in freezing cold Russia  but I want my Exige to be in a perfect shape for the next Summer!

So, as far as I know the 190 kit includes:

  1. carbon fiber performance air box (is it just lighter than the stock one or there are other advantages?)
  2. ITG (JC74) air filter
  3. 82degree termostat
  4. inlet camshaft pulley?
  5. oil catch tank?
  6. new camshafts?
  7. new induction pipe with adapter?
  8. new engine management system (chip)
  9. de-cat pipe

Take offs:

  1. one of two stock air filters (the one that is closer to throttle bodies)
  2. Resonator valve and vacuum reservoir (+ its pipes)
  3. breater rail + pipes?
  4. some metal pipes?

    Thanks!!!

Going from memory when working at the dealers when they were new. Its been a while!!

  1. carbon fiber performance air box (is it just lighter than the stock one or there are other advantages?) - option on car build, glass fibre and airbox were the same size, the early S1 Elise 190’s had a shallower airbox that was otherwise the same
  2. ITG (JC74) air filter - no
  3. 82degree termostat - yes
  4. inlet camshaft pulley? - yes
  5. oil catch tank? - optional
  6. new camshafts? - no
  7. new induction pipe with adapter? - no
  8. new engine management system (chip) - yes
  9. de-cat pipe - yes

Take offs:

  1. one of two stock air filters (the one that is closer to throttle bodies) - yes
  2. Resonator valve and vacuum reservoir (+ its pipes)- yes
  3. breater rail + pipes? - only with the catch tank uprgrade
  4. some metal pipes? - only if you wanted to delete the IAC valve

    Thanks!!!

The reason of this Q is that I just want to know what should be done for a safe installation of 190hp chip.

And what benefits CB airbox gives? Just a cool view of engine bay  ?
Seriously, what does CF airbox gives? I now have some black plastic airbox fitted on my Exige. Should I replace it with a CF one?

The upgrade was initially developed for the 340R in an attempt to get somewhere near a ‘productionised’ version of the promised 340bhp/ton for that particular car.

This link 340R UPGRADE gives a full description of what was supposed to happen with that installation along with the benefits of each part of the kit.

The S1 Exige upgrade was essentially the same, especially with regard to the ECU and engine mods. Most S1 buyers had it done as soon as the car was run in.

As far as I know it was never offered as an off-the-shelf kit but all of the dealers could supply and fit all of the parts.

I’m sure all of the parts are still available but there have been many later developments, not least in the ECU department, that may offer better choices these days. That said, there is no doubt that the vernier cam pullies are worth their weight in gold and allow much more accurate valve timing whatever the state of tune.

All IMHO of course.

Oh, carbon airbox - purely for show, and a bit lighter, of course, otherwise a waste of money.

Thanks!

Bear in mind that the inlet pulley was not a vernier one, simply a standard pulley with another keyway and timing mark.

Ah yeah, thanks - waste of money. Piper Vernier Pulleys should do the job then…
