Whats holding you back from posting?

We have been quiet lately. Curious why.

What can I do to make you post more?

Let me know your thoughts!

Did you know you can reply to emails when you watch a post and the system will do its magic and post for you?

You can often also copy and paste from other sites here so if you update or ask a question elsewhere you can duplicate the content.

I think it’s a sign of the times, not sure why but cycling, Caterham stuff have all gone quiet.

I think events hold up well, this site used to be track day focussed but it’s rare to see Lotii on track these days. Midlands lotus ā€œLotus in the Peakā€ still gets a good turn out.

Let’s face it, we are getting older, youngsters have less interest and want modern stuff. Mind you, my 24 year old son is completely committed to the Exige (S1, proper one).

I see your point. I have seen a recent resurgence in some sites with people who are coming away from social media.

Not quite sure what we need to do though!

I don’t mind chucking a load of photos from trackdays in here if it’ll generate a bit of interest.

Id like that @PaulT !

I reckon it’s the UX.

The user journey involved with posting on a forum is quite poor compared to something like IG/X/TikTok.

The content is also a bit longer and more text based, and we’re so bombarded with short visual content, that 6 pages of debate on spring rates doesn’t fire any dopamine any more.

I gave this a thumbs up because you’ve hit the nail on the head - the social media giants have become giants by tapping into what we want and how quickly we want it. But I’m old school and I think forums have stayed the same but they still have their place - it’s never gonna match up to the big boys when you look at the stats but it’s got the camararderie and that’s it for me.

A fair point - what would you like to see? How can I make it better?

I should post more, indeed I’m doing a great little job currently on the Exige with wiring in a wideband lambda and also 3 way map switch - I’ve never really been a huge ā€˜poster’ - I always worry I’ll come across as a bit of a nob / or my workmanship isn’t that great

Post!

You wont be a nob!
I am sure your workmanship will be just fine!

I work on the principle that if my post helps someone at a later date its a good thing!

I must say I have not been posting much as I have no technical ability and winter has kept the car indoors. I used to look at exiges.com religiously every day but somehow got out of the habit. Will try harder.
The forum is working fine due to its upgrades from AndyBond. I’ll just have to get tuned in a bit.

Will post updates about the car, but family life, busy job and slow car progress is holding me back.

Also noticing I will reply to other peoples car topics, build and questions, but all other stuff (including social media) is something I am
Avoiding, like the exige stablemate topics.

Getting older, saving time, caring less.
Need to remove social media but still handy in a way

I am not a social media fan either @Emiel. Much better things to concern myself with.

Created a special instagram for the car to keep unknown people of my personal instagram with only parents in law and such.

It is handy for selling bits or copying smart solutions from others. But that is it really.

Still a big forum fan, but my Caterham is the first car I’ve had that I can remember which doesn’t have ā€œa threadā€ anywhere, just because I suspected I wouldn’t have time to keep it up to date (and I’d have been correct!) so the filthy socials formats have won over.

I’ll be back posting about the 2-Eleven soon hopefully :crossed_fingers:

I think forums, including Exiges will ebb and flow. I don’t think you need to ā€œdoā€ anything as the site owner/admin, other than keep it healthy for when the content arrives.
