Just been for a blat around the local countryside, coming into town…so, start poodling around the ring road, not long…exit the last roundabout, the road curves around and splits into two lanes, nail it around the outside of the car in front and…the limiter cuts in. I look down at the temp gauge and I have 82C…no MIL light, etc. …anyways, have changed up by now and at next opportunity drop down a couple of gears and nail it again…cuts in again (6500).
At the next traffic lights I switched off the ignition and then re-started the car…pulled away, nailed it and no limiter until 8000+ in the next four gears.
Previous to the fault I had had a spirited drive and just embarrassed a porky turbo into submission (granted…not hard) so, even though I had slowed for the 40 mph ring road… the engine and everything else were defo up to temperature.
I know the limiter cuts in when cold…could not get the fault to re-appear once I had re-started.
Do I have a potential problem? …serious answers pls.
Oh yeah…forgot to mention, 190 NA with performance pack.
Happened on mine about 4 times in 79,000 miles.
Could be fuel surge or low oil.
Thanks blacktoy…Its not low oil & have not been able to replicate the problem since.
Wonder whether it is related to the manoeuvre, there was a small bump in the road, left-hand bend and full beans…so, judder not unlike when you ride a rumble strip with foot down.
What puzzles me is the low engine power mode without any MIL and a temperature showing.
Anyway…seems ok now so, fingers crossed.
