What'd ya think?

Car came back from B&C, started it and warmed it up before a short blast last weekend. It kicked a bit of soot out the back on to the drive (it wasn’t oil). I assumed it was just because it had sat around and driven at low revs during the recent deliveries and collections (a long tragic windscreen replacement story).I tried starting it today and it took a while. Then I think it was running on less than its full compliment of cylinders as it was idle was lumpy, the fumes were very strong and slightly smokey. A short drive eventually ended in virtually no power. After a short rest I chugged the couple of miles home very gingerly. I had briefly blasted it to see if it kept me under 5500rpm with the updated misfire program but it didn’t seem to.It hasn’t been run much laterly. Could this just be a run down batt or something else? I can’t quite see (well I can but I’d hate to think) how it can come back from the garage like this given it was fine when it went in.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]

Might be worth checking the spark plug leads.Magnacores (I think the spelling is right) are normally the best ones to use. Go to eliseparts.com for more info.Kev.

Nope, all cylinders firing okay. Compression test checked out but the plugs were filthy. For some reason it is over fueling badly. It looks very much like it’s been doing it since it came back from B&C post service and bits’n’bobs.Ideas?Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]

Ian,I would take it back to B&C and ask them what they have done, put the ball back in there court,it was not playing up when you took it in,so why is it playing up now!pete

Yeah take it back to them, it could be the ECU temp sensor gone faulty so it thinks its cold all the time. The ECU OBDII scanner woould pick that up. Just make sure all the sensors are connected properly.

Cheers chaps. We checked the connection of most of the sensors last night and it’s now back with B&C.

Hey the AA man just popped back to see what it was! How nice was that?!I’ll have to let him know as B&C are stacked.I haven’t thrashed my car for soooo long now and the this weekend is looking tops, again!Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]
