What will they find....?

My car is in for a pre-track inspection tomorrow (in prep for Hethel :sunglasses: )

Took it for a spin last night, and it goes like the clappers and stops pretty darn quick too. But the back end sounds like its disintegrating!
Various fizzes, rattles, clonks, pops, bangs and crackles, all accompanied by a squeaky seat runner are really distracting from the driving experience.

So I’m pretty certain some of the noises can be dealt with - but I’m keen to know what they are / where they are coming from. Care to make any guesses?, and I’ll report back tomorrow

Sounds like the packing in the silencer needs replacing…

Exhaust heat shield??

Check to make sure the front engine mount is tight to the chassis and hasn’t come loose on the 4 bolts while your under there.

Clean bill of health for all essential connections/components.
Little bit of rattle when you give the exhaust a tap, but nothing you wouldn’t associate with its age and condition.
Car looked in good condition with the trays off

Still a noisey rattle when I drove it home though, which sounds like its coming from the top of the engine - i.e. probably the intercooler bits that I installed!

Better get the spanners out at the weekend :unamused:

Is it a noisy tizz\rattle? The super charger bracket that goes to the gearbox tends to fracture, drove around with mine doing it for 2 years till John had the gearbox out and replaced it.

It sounds like there is a baking tray sat on the engine, and under a particular circumstance, there is a resonance that rattles it about!
I will tighten whatever I can get to, and I’m convinced it will be obvious and instantly sorted when located - but until then :imp:

sounds like my SC brackets noise, another annoying rattle\tizz i took ages to find was, the charge cooler and intercooler pipework touching inside the rubber joining pipe, does that make sense?

Makes perfect sense ade! I’ll put my x-ray specs on :nerd:
It has to be something in that area as it sounds to be at shoulder/head height when sat in the drivers seat.
