So at Anglesey my clutch release bearing went & this cuased the oil seal to go, I think & I had to limp home. The gearbox is out and I’m tryiong to sort parts at the moment. I’ve had the car for about a year now, although it was off the road for a few months due to the old engine being knackered, & I’ve got a new VHPD in.
Whilst I’ve got it stripped down so far, what are the other bits of work that I should be looking to do? Mine is an S1 with adjustale nitrons on I’ve just realised . (Need to get an adjuster tool - where’s the best place to get them from??).
So what do you reckon??? Bushes / other stuff???
Great to meet so many of you at Anglesey!
Mark
Hi Mark welcome to the fold.
Re Nitron adjuster tool …if you mean the spring seats then you dont need a special tool just use a suitable size twist drill ( the shank end) BUT be sure it fits snugly , you dont want to burr the holes.
Also give the threads a good clean before trying to move the seats, but you obviously know all about this if you have removed gearbox etc apologies for the grandmother and eggs thing
G’day Mark,
Your car looked a sorry state… hope you got all that oil cleaned up ok!
Have you got a PRT? Very good mod!
Hope the repair goes well… nice to meet you.
Pete.

I’m seeing a plastic cover and then a collar above the spring - the collar has a couple of holes in it which I’ve assumed I need a tool for, but I’ll try the drill, thanks!!!

G’day Pete yerself mate!
Nice to meet you Pete & everyone there!!!
Don’t want to sound too dim, but what’s a PRT???
Cheers

The PRT is a pressure relief thermostat. It does the normal job of a traditional thermostat, but also relies on pressure due to hot water expansion to smoothly regulate the warming up of the engine. The rad is a long way from the engine and with lots of pipes means that the normal one just opens and bang, lots of cold water. Not good for the ‘K’ series engine!
Easy to fit… with the engine out! Ok with it in! 80 ish and will go a long way to minimise the risk of early HGF…
I believe the Landrover Freelander Grey is the one to fit. It is 82C With Light Spring.
My car had one fitted when the engine was replaced by the previous owner 12K miles ago. A good mod!
Good luck.
agreed with what pete says. there’s some good stuff on selc about it including a fitting guide.
worth a search on there mark.
I would like to talk to someone who has actually done this mod themselves before I embark on one of thoes jobs that I might regret…you know the kind
Didn’t get the PRT done as we could not get one in time - a job for the near future…
