My current thinking is that if I get a front wheel in a 17x8.5 with a 35 offset and a 20mm adaptor reducing it to a 15 offset, I can then fit 235/40/17 R888 tyres.
Then with a rear wheel size of 18x12 with a 20 offset I can use a 40mm adaptor reducing the offset to -20, then fit 315/30/18 R888s.
doesn’t that rear with the spacers still give you 19mm less clearance on the inside? The wheel will also be taller so you need more inner clearance as you get closer to the taper on the chassis leg? That will also give you 95mm more wheel sticking out the clam? I didnt think the gt3 clams were that wide?
Yep that’s right, it will give 19mm less on the inside compared to the standard wheel, and 95mm further out.
I measured at the weekend and there is roughly 90mm to the rear arch lip, so with a bit of modification it could work.
Regarding the inner clearance, I looked at the Komo-Tec wheels that are 8 inch wide and with a 25mm offset, that would give the 12 inch rim a further 6mm less clearance on the inside?
the problem i had was i got the inner clearance the same as standard on the s1, but as the wheel was slightly taller it goes further down the chassis leg meaning you need more clearance. I ended up with 20mm spacers just to get it to miss the chassis leg. The s1 can touch the chassis leg with standard wheels with the tyres flexing so im not sure if the s2 has the same issue or if that gets more clearance as standard?
How was seans wheel fitted to your car? did it have spacers fitted? His wheel i think is a zero offset?
Could sean not stick his wheel back on to check how much clearance you have on the inside?
if seans wheel was just bolted on it would give 6mm more inner clearance and be 50mm the other way. The photo dosen’t look like it needs the whhel to be out to much more than that, not 45mm more anyway.
Why not just get proper three piece wheels and stop all the BS threads by now.
You ask for advice and you never take it. Just buy the fuckin wheels and tires you want and build the dam car around it…

Frank, can I remind your tiny little brain, again, that I am not doing any work on this car, it is at your mates place, JS Racing, and has been since last year. I haven’t touched the car since last year, I just ask questions from time to time out of curiosity, and when I do I am asking everybody’s advice except yours, as you clearly haven’t got a clue. In fact I’d be surprised if you even knew how to wipe your arse properly.

Yup you are right, why bother when a chump like yourself will give it a good lick when it needs a cleaning…

I don’t think the S2 has this problem quite to the same extent as the S1, but I need to have another look at the car to be sure.
A 17x7 front with 215/40 tyre, and 18x11 rear with 285/30 would be a good set up, but the problem is not all wheel & tyre options are available with the right offset and pcd.
I could get custom wheels made, but they are 4,500 where off the shelf ones are 1,050.
