What is this plug for?

I regularly receive error P0171 and have found an unused plug in my engine compartment if my 2005 Exige S2.
This comes with two other plugs from a wiring harness. The other plugs belong to the MAF sensor A120E6299S and one for the vacuum sensor A120E6443S (not in the picture). The latter is unused as an ITG airbox is installed.
Does anyone know what the other connector could belong to?

Thanks for your help!

Wild guesses here. P0170 is fuel trim error.
You say MAP is disconnected, if I wrote the software that would cause an error as Map should change with throttle position and rpm.

Extra connection is two wire, inlet temp?

Ignore if that does not look right as I don’t know.

You can just about make out the grey plug here :

I believe its for the airbox vacuum valve switch

Thanks for your thoughts. The vacuum valve switch is actually plugged in :-/

Ok.

I have just had a look at mine. I too have an aftermarket airbox and mine is unplugged

I’ll try and find some time to narrow it down a bit

Hi Basti,

I had the same problem with my Exige 2005.
Because I know nothing of engines, I took it to my local dealer and he said to add engine cleaner.
My car was standing still for over more then a year, and gasoline can clog in the injectors, which gives the PO171 error.
After 3km with the engine cleaner, the problem was (and still is) solved.

Good luck !

Hi koenraad,

Thanks for the tip! Do you mean 3000 miles or 3 kilometers? I’ve been using a cleaner like this for the last 400 km, but haven’t had any success with it yet. maybe I’ll have to use it a few more times.

It really was only 3km’s.
Anyway, what worked with mine doesn’t mean it will work with yours.
I just put it a half bottle and it was solved.
Hope you work it out quickly
