What is it called ?

Guys,

I have a problem with the rubber vacuum pipe that runs in front of the fuel rail… not sure what it’s called, but it has 4 connection hoses connected via plastic “T” pieces into the engine.

I’ve ordered some new ‘T’ pieces and hose but wondered if anyone has any spares lying around in case they don’t arrive in time (got a trackday at Croft next week).

Cheers,

Dave.

Halfords sell black washer pipe T pieces, they would be fine.

Really ??..Awesome ! Thanks Fluffy

This pic shows the pipe I mean - it’s black/white at the fuel regulator end and runs back alongside the fuelrail and to the left hand side…

just out of interest, between your airbox and the donkey dick there is a grey plastic bit.

what is this?

No idea…it’s not my engine bay !

Just a pic I found on the net that showed the bit I was talking about

I thought it looked a bit different to when you picked the car up last month mate. Steve

That’s the resonator. It’s deleted as part of the 192 upgrade. It’s ally not plastic.

and I have one for sale if you want one

Steve, Do you ever know if the car got a 192 upgrade ?

I always though it was 177 but not sure Dave, but didnt seem to loose ground to 192 cars on the track
Steve

Only reason I mention it is because it was in Blink last week and Richard thought some of the blue silicon hosing was part of the 192 kit…

Dave

Part of the 190 kit was a different thermostat ie 82C. IIRC the original/177 was something like 89C or 90C.

So by checking your temp, you should have an idea. An alternative is to speak with, or email [email protected] Andy Plant at the factory, & give him the chassis number - a dealer fitted 190 kit (& I would be surprised if any weren’t dealer fitted) will show up in the records.

Yea…we did check that Rob…and it didn’t have an 82 in before (have now fitted a remote thermostat so it does now).

It does have two speed sensors apparently though.

Sorry, not sure what what you mean. The sensor on the left hand rear wheel works the Stack speedo, & the sensor on the right hand rear wheel tells the ECU when the car is stationery/moving thus controlling the fuelling on the “overun”. Both 177 & 190 versions have these sensors. There was an ECU recall/reflash which monitored misfires (if detected, limits max revs to 5500rpm), & for that to work properly, the “overun” sensor has to be functioning. (Prior to the recall, many of us disconnected the sensor to enjoy popping/banging/flaming on the overun from max revs with a hot engine/silencer).

Ahh…ok…then I guess I do have a little 177

As they say…it’s not the size of the dog in a fight…

Yeah but the 177 is essentially a neutered 190 (it’s how they had to sell them for legal reasons or something). So, how’s your dog feeling now?!

You really know how to put a guy down don’t you Ian

I think Richard is correct, when my 190 upgrade was done at Kett Hall, the original black vacuum tubing was replaced by blue silicon tubing and the actual routing was changed as adjacent inlet tracts are now connected directly with a single loop of tube.

Hrm…Any chance of a photo Steve ?

I don’t think that was part of the 190 kit fitted by dealers. The VHPD came with at least one bit of blue silicon hosing - IIRC for oil, situated at the bottom of the engine.

I wouldn’t worry about it Dave, the “extra” horses make hardly any difference, cos the ECU mapping is pretty poor! Much better to get an Emerald ECU & verniers & have the car properly mapped (if you intend retaining the VHPD).
