I am probably older than most on here and like some comfort when I travel to track days (the only time I use my Lotii). I find my S2 Exige a bit of an ear ache which puts me off driving to tracks more than 100 miles away.
Yesterday I tried an Evora S which was certainly like comfy bedroom slippers after the Exige. Does any one on here have any real experience of one for regular track days? I was surprised it has harness seats but you cannot fit harnesses and the shiny leather would be slippy slides all day long. I also assume it would eat tyres and brakes because it was fast and also feels heavy. Gear change was not good and makes an 850 mini appear state if the art. I suspect it was “out” because it did not centre in the 3rd, 4th gate position.
At the moment I think I dill keep my s2 but my next drive to Snetterton and back on the a14 may change my mind.
I have a MY12 Evora S which I took on track 3 times in the first year of ownership. It is very capable on track and compares well Vs S2 Exiges.
To answer some of your queries -
The car needs 2012 gear cables for a smooth slick change, or try an ips?
The premium sport seats are very supportive and the carbon leather helps grip you.
Rear tyres 20" last about 9k miles with track and sensible.road use.
After 10.5k miles I am still on the original fronts and all origional pads.
Expect circa 6.5mpg on track.
If you can do it you will find it to be a brilliant car for road and the odd track. If you can live with the Elise cabin a V6 Exige would be better on track, but not up to the Evora on the road.
Mid 20’s mpg on the road though. Its ok really, fill up before the mornig session & enjoy til lunchtime. Refill over lunch and enjoy the afternoon. Track fuel will be 100 to 120 litres for the day. For two or three times a year it is ok imho
I have thought about it and used them briefly. However I like to hear what I’d going on around me on the road. I do not know if it is legal or what my insurance company would think.
Iwould doubt therewould be a legal issue using earplugs?
I never needed them in exige s or 111R however the elise was more wearing on track with the on off cam thing, even with a helmet on i’d still be frazzled after a long track session. The Evora is pure bliss however and makes a great noise.
Got the motorcycle ear plugs, just driven 100 miles to the B&B before my track day, brilliant. I listened to my mp3 on the stereo and did not grey driven nuts by the droning.
