Are they using the Toyota one or something like a GEMS / Emerald?

It is manufactured by EFi, and is bespoke for Lotus. Not easy to crack, although Charlie X in the US has, and so have Komotec in Germany. Sinclairs dealing with Charlie X and Hangar 111 dealing with Komotec. I’ve got a Hanger 111 map in my N/A Exige, and I’m delighted with it.

I doubt Komo tec have cracked the ECU their tunes are just copied Lotus tunes

That is not true. Komotec are capable of producing specific maps for specific cars.
